Boxing lost a main event this afternoon, too (Abraham)... and a few weeks ago (Guzman) and I guess you didn't read any of the MMA fans commenting on the scheduled bout because no one was praising it...

The thing is boxing doesnt work the same way because the known names that are involved in mega fights actually have to prove themselves through rising up the ranks. Say what you want about Pacman/DLH but at least Pacquiao is the best p4p in the world whos won belts in numerous weightclasses. THey pay their dues. They fight in small casinos for peanuts and rise up the ranks, Lesnar and Kimbo did not.

Lesnar is a skilled wrestler though. Hes definitely not some hack they got from WWE. Its still a joke that hes actually managed to beat a very good veteran heavyweight though.

While I would never be caught dead at an MMA event, I'm impressed with their marketing strategies. They're on major network TV and they have young people interested, which boxing is inconsistent in accomplishing. They are doing something right.

Yeah exactly. Nothing wrong with main events being cancelled. Fights are delayed numerous times. Liddell/Evans, Rampage/Griffin, Shamrock/Kimbo, Guzman/Campbell, Marquez/Abraham. It does suck though to have a main event being cancelled the day of the event ie. Kimbo/Shamrock and Guzman/Campbell.

            Kimbo Slice versus Ken Shamrock

            2. An almost 50 year old ex champ who retired 2-3 times versus a roided up WWF Wrestler with zero mma experience who out of his only 3 fights in MMA so far has already lost once. Which belt are they fighting for by the way the Intercontinental World WWF Title, and is this going to be a ladder match by any chance? I would love to see Undertaker come out and bury all of these fat old slobs for good. LOL!!

            Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar

Oh and if that wasn't enough ****Hoya has 'respect' for UFC:

Screw this jokey laughable no skilled redneck orgy known as MMA.

BOXING will always rule supreme. And to take a line from the world of UFC/WWF: Boxing is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

Well the whole point of having a business is to, guess what?.........make money! These fights bring big-name recognition and thereby bring an audience and thereby bring in advertising dollars. If you talk to any passionate or serious MMA fan they will tell you these fights are hardly "heralded fights" as you call them. How much did they hype Tyson in the last few years of his career? He was a complete joke. These where the most "heralded fights" in boxing right? No, of course not! All of us who are hardcore fans know where the real fights are, whether you are a boxing fan or MMA fan.
