He got hit much more after his 3 year exile as he was slower. During his first reign from 64-67, he didn't get hit very often.
He was always vulnerable to a left hook. He was lazy with keeping that right hand up throughout his career. -
He got hit a lot more after his 3 years off and it progressively got worse as his career went on, he rarely got hit by a punch apart from left hooks in the earlier part of his career and even then it was only on a few occasions.Comment

I agree but I don't know how the F U C K he was able to take all that damage from Big George and Frazier. He'd lay against the ropes and let these hard punching dudes punch themselves out. Anyother other fighterz would have been K.O'dComment

Prime Ali was a hard target to hit because of his reflexes. He wasn't impossible to hit but many of his opponents had trouble landing on him.
Ali could be hit in the 70's but he knew how to take a punch and recover.
He even took some punches on purpose during his comeback fights in the 70's.
Ali taking body punches from Mac Foster (who was a great puncher with all of his wins by KO) without defending against it.Comment
