Hey guys i thought i would post this article.
Anthony Mundine hopes to name his opponent in the next few days for his controversial visit to Perth next month.
The Sydney super-middleweight, who fights at Claremont’s Challenge Stadium on November 12, is heading west in an attempt to lure Perth’s Danny Green out of retirement and set up a lucrative rematch between the pair.
Mundine beat Green over 12 rounds in May 2006 in Australia’s biggest domestic boxing clash and a big-money offer was put on the table earlier this year from the Mundine camp for Green to put the gloves back on.
On Mundine’s last visit to Perth in 2005, he came under fire from Green fans as the rivalry between the pair built.
Mundine, who last time out was floored before beating Japan’s Crazy Kim on points in Newcastle at the end of July, has been in the news lately more for his friendship with controversial former NRL star Sonny Bill Williams.
Mundine’s matchmaker George Reno told thewest.com.au that they were considering “two or three opponents, all good quality” and that he was hopeful of confirming the opponent soon.
Perth’s unbeaten super-featherweight Willie Kickett is also expected to be on the bill.
Omar Sheika has been talked about. So has Allan Green. And so has Sven Ottke.
