Benn had some great fights esspecially with mcclellan but he was finished when he had a 2 fights with collins. Collins was a great fighter beating eubank and benn twice each. Calzaghe has been great for all these years and is still undefeated but what would of happend if the collins calzaghe fight took place??? I think calzaghe would of out worked collins and won on points and then went on to america and beat roy jones in his prime. What and era in the 90's if they were all at there prime.
The fact of the matter is both relied on high workrate over huge punches. Collins refused to be hurt by anyone, but Calzaghe has a big advantage in hand speed. The likely outcome is Collins always pressing the action but Joes hand speed winning him enough round to get the decision.

Eubank thinks Calzaghe is a class above Collins

Collins thinks McCallum is a class above Calzaghe

      Some food for thought

Also Collins was more of a technician in the first eight years of his career... believe it or not.

calzaghe back then fought differently to the way he does now - these days he is a volume puncher with good speed and a smart brain. back then he was a young version of nigel benn, awesome power and an awesome chin, he did have other attributes in that he had good handspeed but he was more willing to stand and trade.

yet benn has said in the past that he believes that joe could have beat every other fighter there was iincluding hmself. thats one hell of a compliment!!

Thats because McCallum outboxed the hell out of Collins.

Calzaghe UD, out of the top british middleweight from that period i think Watson would be one of the hardest fights style wise for calzaghe.
