Calzaghe Vs Collins in there Prime?

In the 90's there was a great deal of middleweights/super middleweights that had great success. It started with benn, eubank, collins and then calzaghe. To me i believe Benn was a better fighter than eubank because eubank was lucky in most of his title defences and got schooled of collins and calzaghe. Benn had some great fights esspecially with mcclellan but he was finished when he had a 2 fights with collins. Collins was a great fighter beating eubank and benn twice each. Calzaghe has been great for all these years and is still undefeated but what would of happend if the collins calzaghe fight took place??? I think calzaghe would of out worked collins and won on points and then went on to america and beat roy jones in his prime. What and era in the 90's if they were all at there prime.

Think its unfair to say Eubank was lucky in his title defences. Some feel Benn shouldve got the nod over him the 2nd time but I think Eubank may be the best all round fighter of all of them, along with Calzaghe. Benn had a granite punch and Collins had a granite chin.

I think Calzaghe would beat Collins. Almost certainly on points in a similar fight to the Eubank vs Calzaghe fight.

This is one of my favorite eras in boxing !
and i can remember like yesterday that Colin's vacated his WBO title rather than face Calzaghe his then No1 contender !
Calzaghe had to then face the No2 contender and former Champ Eubank for Colin's vacated WBO title! The rest is history!
In fact most would say Colin's didn't want any part of Joe Calzaghe and if you watch this video below Eubank after just losing to Calzaghe says to the Camera :"Now you know why Steve Colin's don't wanna box him Eh!" He did good ,he a very good fighter!

Jesus, come on man. I get what you are saying leading up to this dillusional statement. RJJ in his prime vs. JC in his prime = one sided UD, possibly KO. (Obv I'm talking about RJJ winning)

Yeah I remember that vividly mate. Eubank put up a great fight even though he was past his best. Great humility shown by him at the end too, this is when the British public really started to get behind Chris.

Im not sure if Collins was scared of not. He was looking for a fight with Roy Jones and I think he retired out of disappointment knowing he'd never get it. There was also the story about him collapsing in training. Collins was a really underrated fighter from that era. Great era, I agree.

Calzaghe would have won IMO, Collins punches too wide, Calzaghe would pick him apart with his straighter shots and I don't think Collins could have hurt Calzaghe, it would have been an easier fight than Eubank as well I think.

But he would keep coming, hitting a lot of times too.

that one is a hard one, I could easily see Steve Collins win over RJJ. But we'll never know.

Calzaghe could match him for workrate and he doesn't get hit by wide shots all that often, the best way to hit Calzaghe is straight down the middle, Collins doesn't throw that many down the middle.

Collins over Jones, I don't think so.

                    Calzaghe punches shorter than Collins.
