Roy Jones and Joe Calzaghe Negotiated Own Deal

In this boxing era of high powered promoters, television networks, managers, sports lawyers, booking agents and complicated contracts it is surprising to learn how easily the fight between when Roy Jones, Jr. and Joe Calzaghe was negotiated and ultimately came together.

Sounds too good to be true - though no details of what they aggreed upon was told.

As a boxing fan and one that followed boxing when Roys was in his prime, it amazed me how now out of his prime he is willing to fight over seas.

More fighters need to do this & cut out the greedy promoters. But class acts in & outside the ring like Roy & Joe C. are hard to come across.

It was a 50/50 split. How it should be.

I really can't see Jones knocking out Calzaghe, his chin is just to good.
If you look at the bombs Kessler gave him on the chin **** knows how he's still standing.

Dan Rafael reported the ticket sales for the fight were crap, hopefully that changes soon.

I reckon it should be winner takes all. You know then that both fighters will give everything to win, instead of doing what's necessary.
