Its between Pernell Whitaker and Mayweather. I can't pick between the two but I'll lean towrds Mayweather since he didn't get dropped nearly as many times as Pernell
The best defensive boxer ever?

In his prime Benitez had a tremendous defense. He had the nickname "Radar" because of his ability to see punches coming and make them miss.Comment

I think a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that Pernell was in against higher quality opp and more big punchers than Floyd.Comment

Whitaker was the best I've seen but I chose Pep because he was the original and there was truly no one like him before or after until Whitaker, which is a very long time.
Cotto: Did you say Robinson would have been great if it weren't for his chin or something like that? He had everything but he wasn't an overtly defensive boxer like Pep or Whitaker.Comment

17 year old Benitez was barely hit by long reigning champion and hall of famer Antonio Cervantes.
Against Palomino. Watch the end for some fighting off the ropes.
Against Hearns.
Benitez was the kind of boxer that could be hit with a punch but any follow-up rarely landed. He had amazing reflexes.
Graham had very good defense I agree but unfortunately one of the highlights of his career is getting caught by a Julian Jackson haymaker.Last edited by TheGreatA; 09-30-2008, 08:46 PM.Comment

"I have never missed so many punches in my life."
Honestly, that was one of, if not THE dumbest post I have ever seen.
For my money, Benitez is better defensively than Whitaker. In the early rounds, Benitez is untouchable. Unfortunately, he did not come into fights in the best of shape and you could catch up with him in the later rounds when he got tired.Comment
