VERY strong resume...and often overlooked...

Griffin was a good fighter in his prime, the only fighter that I have seen in the professional ranks frustrate and land on Jones consistently in their first fight, his first fight with Toney was close as well although I thought Toney won both fights.Comment

Griffin deserves props, but honestly I think its emberassing to say he beat RJJ.Comment

he was a slick boxer, i was impressed with griffin, LOLz, even though his "win" over RJJ doesn't count in my eyes, he was about to get knocked out and went down on one knee to get a count and keep roy off him and got punched in the head and roy got DQ'd. none of his fights against quality opponents looked like blowouts, he was good enough to hang with those guysComment

Yeah, he probably going to get knocked out by Jones sooner or later but up to that point, it was one of Jones' toughest fights as a professional and it probably still is one of his toughest fights.he was a slick boxer, i was impressed with griffin, LOLz, even though his "win" over RJJ doesn't count in my eyes, he was about to get knocked out and went down on one knee to get a count and keep roy off him and got punched in the head and roy got DQ'd. none of his fights against quality opponents looked like blowouts, he was good enough to hang with those guys
I agree, apart from the second Jones fight, none of his fights against the best were blowouts.Comment

he gave roy a good fight into roy started breaking his ass down! Montell thought he was getting to roy while roy was on the ropes but little did he know roy was setting him up. Yeah whatever he got a dq decision win but griffin was hurt, wobbled, and on his way out in that round. Then came the rematch and I felt bad for Montell. Good resume though no doubt!Every fight is different, the FACT is that Montell gave a PRIME RJ a very tough fight the first time... pressed him and hit him with more shots than anyone else up to that point...and he beat James Toney twice. Nine years before JT beat Jirov. Give the man credit, come onComment
