I understand where you're coming from, but think it's fair to expect a fighter with as much hype behind him as Calzaghe to look good against an aging Bernard Hopkins. Considering that prior to that fight we had recently witnessed Hopkins lose two close decisions to a young bull who has since turned out to be somewhat disappointing, proving himself to be somewhat overhyped, it is NOT impressive to see Joe Calzaghe to turn in a similar performance against an even older Hopkins. Not when he is supposed to be #2 p4p.

The fact that Joe Calzaghe didn't look much better than Jermain Taylor did against Hopkins has hurt his image, no doubt about it.

In the two fights prior, Hopkins had just beaten Tarver and Winky Wright making them both look like utter horse ****e in the process. Tarver was top 10 P4P material and Winky was 2 or 3.

i give calzaghe credit for beating lacy, but he shouldn't rest his laurels on 3 wins over lacy, kessler and a 43 year old hopkins. I think he needs to do a little bit more. like fighting pavlik and then the winner of dawson/tarver. He can call it a day and I'd call him a great fighter if he could defeat those guys.

I agree, both Lacy and Kessler are not great fighters, niether of them have good resumes that say they are good fighters. Hopkins has a great resume, gave Calzaghe hell..but he's 43..you don't want you're best win to be against someone that old. It was an ugly fight to, could have gone both ways..I actually thought Hopkins won.

He didn't make winky look like horse ****, Tarver was a good win..but even Tarver ain't what he used to be.

Beating Hopkins is a solid win for Calzaghe, but Hopkins IS 43, he's not anywhere near his Prime and it looked bad while Hopkins had gas left he was taking Calzaghe to school..untill age caught up with him.
