He beat Forbes more convincingly than Oscar. And got hit less doing it.

****ed up and missed the fights last night. Gotta check out the replays later. Sounds like Berto did much better wit Forbes than I thought. I didn't completely rule out an upset for 2 lb but I guess he got dealt wit. I read Collazo was motivated and won his fight, so a match between these guys sounds good. If Berto can decisively win that one I think he should make his play to join the elite.

well i dont think collazos a good matchup for andre (is he a good matchup for anyone? quick, tall, skillfull southpaw?), it will be a very good guage of where he is in comparison to cotto, williams etc. Collazo is a bit of a gatekeeper i think, he'll never be a superstar but he'll give any prospect a solid test or a harsh lesson.

I didnt think berto was THAT good last night either, i personally was mystified by the scoring though it was much closer, although i missed the first couple of rounds. I could see collazo beating him pretty soundly if berto is not capable of better, we'll see

i think your underestamating forbes he's a very slick guy who is hard to hit square and he took the first 2 rounds from berto on my scorecard

I didnt think Berto was all that to be honest..
Did a good job on Forbes though who has to be shop worn by now
Rapid firepower throws them in 2's and 3's but you can just see his wide open
for someone with some pop back to crack him one...

Good win for him though wasnt really a great fight though

I'm sorry but isn't Berto the WBC Champ? Then why the h-ll was Forbes in there? I thought the welterweight division was the best division and he's fighting someone who was 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Bull! Berto loses some points with me. Even tho he is a very good fighter.

Collazo-Berto is a solid fight. I am happy that Collazo finally getting a televised fight again, he should be very motivated by this oppurtunity. As for Berto this is a step up from Forbes in that Collazo is a former welter belt holder and is the toughest guy Berto has faced to date (imo Forbes has never been a real welter, so while it was not a bad fight since Forbes is a tough dude and a slick fighter, but overall it was a good learning experiance for Berto because he will not fight to many guys more slick then Forbes).

I think people are underrating Forbes.Forbes is only 31 and difficult to hit clean with quick hands and good boxing skills and Berto dominated him and showed good defense later in the fight when Berto settle down.

People act like Cotto and Margarito are 2 unstoppable Juggernauts.


Neither of those fighters have nowhere near as good a defense as Forbes.

Margarito is superslow super hittable and still was able to catch Cotto with alot of flush shots.what does that tell you about both of them?

And since when you have to start your career at welterweight in order to be a solid fighter?

Did Floyd,Cotto and spinks Start their careers at Welter?

If Forbes beat Collazo,Its going to be "Collazo is not all that,he was dominated by Shane"

cotto lost 1 fight........no1 will say he's washed up.........

berto is the champ, he won last night, wasn't pretty, but he did do what he need to do. i also thought the scoring was a lil too wide.

in order to get props, you're supposed to fight the top guys. beating forbes (although he's no bum), beating collazo, will only take berto so far. he has to fight the top guys in order for ppl to get a true gauge of how good he actually is. i think all questions about him are still fair game at this point, until he proves otherwise.
