I don't think there's ever been a fighter that was as scrutinized on these forums as Golden Johnson was lol.

These kids couldn't let that go lol, and it's not like it was even funny. The whole Tye Fields movement was funny, that **** had jokes. That big ass American winning machine was KO'ing men, but Johnson came out of no where and just got completely crucified by a bunch of lame asses lol. Antonio Margarito went in against Golden Johnson. A fringe level fighter who has actually beaten decent competition such as Oscar Diaz, Freddy Hernandez, and Juan Lazcano, among others. Margarito goes in, makes him look silly in 1 round and people mock Margarito for beating up some inferior fighter.

Paul Williams goes into this fight against a complete Bum who has only fought Andy Ward and no other noteworthy opponents. Williams stops him in 1 round and everyone praises Williams, thinks he is the best, and Tommy hearns comparison are unleashed

there is a significant difference between the 2. Pwill fought Kolle as a stay busy fight at the mw level after destroying Quintana in 1 round. He had nothing to prove and it was better than not fighting at all or doing extra sparring sessions.

marg fought johnson after losing to pwill. he should have been on the comeback trail and fighting big name fighters but instead fought a bum while his fans were complaining about pwill not giving him a rematch. and don't say that pwill is in the same shoes now as marg was then cuz no way in hell does pwill have to prove himself to get a rematch with marg. he already earned it by beating him the first time.

I think Williams is praised because he took on a legit 160 pounder and KO's him the first round. Johnson was OLD and at 147.
