IMDAZED, are you aware that you and I share the same birthday, but that you are exactly one year older than I am? Strange, huh?
Joe Calzaghe Vacates WBO Title After a Ten-Year Run

Sadly "at the end of the day" when Joe Calzaghe is long gone. America will have forgotten all about him.
He will never be "AN ALL TIME GREAT". He will possibly go down in the hall of fame for having had 21 title defenses and possibly being undefeated.
Nothing more nothing less. That's not hate, that's just the truth. Its all on paper.
America will never accept this guy and once again "at the end of the day" that's what Joe Calzaghe wanted. Recognition from the American public, which in some peoples eyes is more important than anything in the sport of boxing. Obviously Joe knew that. Just was a late bloomer.
Sorry Joe, Americans aren't that gullible. You still have a few more fights to attend too before you get the credit you so desperately beg for from us. America knows it and you (joe) know it. Don't kid yourself. If Kessler goes on to be a bum. Your record is shot.....
On the flip side he had a great run and I'm curious to see who will take his spot. I congratulate him on being wise and not taking a risk by fighting on in that weight revision. Good on him.

Out of curiousity, who has Mikkel Kessler beaten to be rated higher than Antonio Tarver? Reggie Johnson? Virgil Hill? And a host of others?Comment

Seriously though, I just happen to rate Kessler, so that will have to do. Even you must surely admit that the man appears to be the goods as a SMW?Comment

For sure! But my point was people are saying he will be an "ALL TIME GREAT" but to do that you must convince the world you are a great. Joe came to America to get the American people to have the same perspective as his home land.
I'm not hating. I'm stating that worldwide he will not be remembered as anything great. Just a guy possibly in the hall of fame for having 21 title defenses and possibly retiring undefeated.
Is that so bad????? Its not. Its good but nothing great..... Joe has his a spot in boxing history BUT it wont be with the greats like Ali etc etc etc. That's all.
And according to some or many "UNCLE SAM" has a big say on WHO is WHO in the sport of boxing. Joe knew this, hence the reason he came over here. He was just as I stated before a "late bloomer" which really hurts his legacy in the American eyes.... But again not taking anything away he did his thing. "at the end of the day" boxing wont miss him. Just waiting for another guy to take his place.Comment

Well who has he beat to show he's the goods at SMW? Or - back to my original question - who has he beat to be rated higher than Antonio Tarver, Reggie Johnson and Virgil Hill? (We'll leave it at those three for now.)Comment
