for some reason im not so confident about calzaghe anymore
in my experience when a fighter has hand injuries and postpones a fight hes gonna lose
i still favor calzaghe since roy is shot but still im not so confident he is gonna totally outclass jones

There is good reason not to be totally confident in Joe, he is getting old, especially if recent photos are to be used as a guide! In his favour, he is fighting an opponent who is even older, both in real and in relative terms, and if Joe is able to perform with the physical intensity he showed even against Hopkins, that should be enough. My own view is that unless Calzaghe dominates the fight completely he should retire afterwards, because a competitive fight with 2008 Roy Jones is, for someone as talented as Calzaghe, a sure sign that the end is nigh.

Calzaghe had 2 hand injuries before the Lacy fight so he had to postpone the fight.... what happened there?

So those guys are a step up from the ones who are 95% better than Calzaghe's resume.

List Calzaghe's 10 best opponents. List Jones'. Get back to me. Feel free to go as high as 15 - I know we can for Roy.
It is simply not true to claim that Malinga and Lucas are better than 95% of Calzaghe's resume, and I'm surprised you say so. They are perhaps bracketable somewhere along with Salem, Bika and Brewer, but yes they would be better than some of Calzaghe's opponents, just as they are better than some of Jones'.

As I said, the difference between Jones 175 resume and his earlier career, and the difference between it and Calzaghe's as a whole, is quantity not quality. As a Brit, judging these fighters after the fact on video it is sometimes hard to judge the fine grained differences in the quality of these fighters, I would say the better of them, say Griffin and Harding might be a bit better than Joe's better second tier wins, others of them a bit worse.

Since I don't actually disagree with you that Jones resume is better I don't see what it is really that you are disagreeing with me about, but taking into account what i just said, I can list the best wins for each fighter I think. Likely my list for Jones may make some oversights since as I said, judging the relative meritsof fighters based on after the fact viewing can be difficult.

          Calzaghe:

          Eubank,
          Reid,
          Woodhall,
          Brewer,
          Sheika,
          Mitchell,
          Salem,
          Lacy,
          Bika,
          Kessler,
          Hopkins

          Jones:

          Hopkins,
          Toney,
          Malinga,
          Lucas,
          Thornton,
          Griffin,
          Harding,
          Hill,
          R. Johnson,
          Woods,
          Tarver,
          Ruiz

            Hopkins Toney
            Kessler Hopkins

As I already said, I believe Jones resume to be better, so I don't really see wht you're getting out of asking me how they compare. I would point out though that listing them in this hypothetical matchups style is a little manipulative since the guy with the better resume, as we have agreed, is likely going to win from the first one on down. It does not however say anything about the overall quality of the opponents which in this case is reasonably similar. If I had to argue with you I would say that I would personally rate Kessler a better win than any of Jones other than Toney and Ruiz (being as it was at heavyweight), and I might rate Eubank a better win than Tarver, but I know you will disagree.

Lets keep it friendly though eh? All in all I don't have too many problems with what you are saying.

Are you serious? I mean really? You mention names like Richie Woodhall, Brewer (shot), Bika, Kessler, Lacy etc. are you serious? Or is it a joke? I don't know if I should take you seriously. Calzaghe the conman says Pavlik is over-rated yet he wanted to fight Pavlik TWICE - so he claims. He also claimed he'd never fight Roy because he was shot. Actions speak louder than words, Joe is a joke.

Clearly you don't know anything about he subject, or indeed about boxing. Come back when you've grown up.

Damn, Calzaghe had a good run even if it was in the end of his reign. Bout time someone gets the limelight for a while.
