Being an undefeated world champion does mean something.

Mayweather wouldn't be so overrated if the loss in Mayweather vs. Castillo I was in his statistics. As far as I'm concerned, Mayweather is NOT an undefeated fighter.

Most would agree that Marciano was lucky to get a split decision win over Roland LaStarza in their first fight. The fight was scored a draw in rounds but it was decided in Marciano's favour due to supplemental scoring.

Both Marciano and Mayweather avenged those controversial wins in decisive fashion.
