With the bout on the verge of being stopped due to his left eye being swollen shut, super bantamweight contender Bernabe Concepcion (27-1, 16 KOs) unleashed a desperate and brutal assault on Giovanni Caro (11-5-4) to knock out Caro in round eight on Thursday night at the Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, California. The end came at the 2:35 mark.


Former world champion Brian Viloria (23-2, 13 KOs) won a workmanlike eight round unanimous decision over Javier Lagos (15-13-2). Viloria is now scheduled to take on Ulises Solis for the IBF jr flyweight championship in December

Junior welterweight Dennis Laurente (30-3, 16 KOs) scored a TKO over Arturo Urena (20-16, 12 KOs) when Urena could not come out for round seven due to a cut under his right eye.

Too bad huh? Disappointing really...I guess you still have to wait til Dec 6 or Dec 13 to find out if he'd end up like the "other" Filipino prospects. Maybe then he won't be the "house fighter" and the fight would be stopped on cuts.
