to be honest, I never even thought of this matchup.
it sounds fantastic. interesting style matchup, and the size difference is going to odd to see too...this will be the biggest(height) high level fighter Toney has ever faced.
I would really, really like this fight to happen. two of my favorite heavyweights.Comment

Thompson by UD. If Toney had problems with John Ruiz and Hasim Rahman, than Thompson will give him lots of problems.Comment

Toney stops Thompson in 5. Toney should fight Haye, Peter, Klitchkos then retire in the next two years provided the big fella keeps in shape and is consistent with his training. We know he can fight, all he needs to do is be in great shape.Comment

You're dellusional
Toney's last stoppage win was 5 years ago....he has NO power at heavyweight.
Thompson has a good chin and very good defense....Toney can't hurt him

Dellusional??? Toney really stopped Rahman in July. Rahman quit like a cry-baby on his stool. Peter got his arse kicked first time and ran in the rematch and both these guys are bigger than Toney.
I see the same with Klitchkos being reluctant to fight Toney as Jirov was granting Toney a shot at his Cruiser title after a two year wait. Jirov and his corner were coming up with new excuses every time a new date was set.Comment

The first Peter/Toney fight was close.....Peter completely dominated Toney in the rematch.
Your hero Toney ducked WladComment

i think james can pull this one off provided he turns up in reasonable shape (about 210-15)
james is a very slick fighter, easily one of the most skilled of his era and as long as he lets thompson come forward and try to engage he can win this, he will be the much shorter and physically smaller man so he needs to be on his toes and make sure he doesnt get caught with anything huge (even though his chin is 2nd to none- just a precaution)
he just needs to utilise his shorter reach and superb inside skills and he can take a UDComment
