So if Joe struggles or looks bad you won't have your usual ton of excuses? Nor will you try to pump up Jones current skills since you have repeatedly said he is done, shot, over with, washed up and this is an easy fight for Joe? Right?

And in the Tito Trinidad fight, Roy wasn't exactly trading punches with a natural welter/junior middle either! He was walking the smaller man down just like Winky did. Something he is not going to be able to do with Joe Calzaghe.

If Roy obviously respected the smaller Trinidad's power, he's going to respect Calzaghe's as well. He wasn't even winning rounds against Tito trying to box. He won them with the high guard. And Tito's a straight forward fighter who has problems with movement.

I'd love to see Roy win this. But he won't.
I didn't see that you responded. My bad....

I agree but I also think tarver landed the "perfect" ("lucky" as Roy explains) shot to KO him. Glen got Roy too soon, Roy should have taken time off to mentally and physically prepare himself. Glen's not known for a one punch KO but I'm pretty sure he hits harder than Joe Calzaghe now a days. Which also brings me to Tito.

I think today's blown up, washed up what ever you call it hits harder than Joe. I think Jones was just feeling himself out and testing the waters with Tito (wasn't that point of the fight?) Roy did what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted to him. I mean why wouldn't he have. Tito is done. He was simply a name and a tune up for a bigger fight.

But like I have said before; Tarver, Glen, Hanshaw and Tito IMO all hit harder than Joe. Besides lacy whos face was bashed back how many years ago, Kessler is the only one that said he was "hurt". Which is the reason I think Kessler would be "DESTROYED" sadly by Pavlik's punching power. Hopkins laughed at Joe and his power and even "the Contender" and as Joe explained "a great American fighter" Manfredo laughed at the so called beating ("pitty pat punches") he took. How can anyone complain about what the judging will be in New York after watching that fight?

Fact is, Jones knows what hes getting into. He's said it over and over. He's fighting a guy that will start punching Friday night and wont stop punching until Sunday evening. Meaning he knows its a lot of punches but nothing to worry him of a KO and you need him scared of the KO punch to have him running and punch shy.

Remember he's only lost once on points and that was to the guy that had him scared from a round 2 KO. I think people are underestimating Roy's ring smarts. I mean when Hop fought Joe people were basing there entire theory on HOP winning because of his smarts. He almost did. I think where a 43 year old Hop failed, Jones will succeed. But hey that's just me. Either way it will be a great fight with "ZERO EXCUSES". Especially if its a close fight and Roy takes it by a SPLIT or what ever. because "Joe is supposed to beat him EASY". So zero excuses. the judges will have nothing to do with it.

But I see your points and I agree to a certain degree. I just disagree on the overall outcome.

rjj/calzaghe is not a good fight. but i hope rjj wins because unlike calzaghe he's willing to fight pavlik.

What is 'my usual ton of excuses'? Thus far Calzaghe has never lost so I haven't been required to make any. What excuses do I make for Calzaghe's relative poor showing against Hopkins other than that he was fighting Bernard Hopkins, who is undeniably both a spoiler and a very good fighter?

huh??? tito was a walking target for rjj and rjj couldn't KO him.

Hopkins makes fights ugly, but the fact that that was Calzaghe's toughest fight still puts some doubt in my mind about Calzaghe.

RJJ is a pot-shotter. Calzaghe is a swarmer. Glen Johnson was a swarmer. If Glen Johnson destroyed RJJ so can Calzaghe if his mitts don't snap in half. This is not a good style fight.
