Is Haye's chin really as bad as people make out

he has a ***ile chin i agree but i think his chin might get a little better fighting at HW having a thick set legs and kneck may help his cause more in that sense

Michael Moorer had a questionable chin and he did okay Wlad has a questionable chin aswell so

Haye will deffo have to keep his hands up more though because allthough those guys are chinny they fight or fought out of a conventional style with both hands up etc

Difference being Moorer was never stopped or floored before his move to HW, even during his 9 title defenses at LHW. No one has ever won a HW title after being stopped previously at a lower weight class. Doesn't mean it's impossible, just very unlikely.

The point is it can be done, to a much lesser extent Iran Barkley was able to do it although it was for the WBB title and I was just pointing out that somebody did manage to do it.

Well it's not a very good comparison in Charles case.

Just scanning his resume on boxrec shows he never fought a guy over 197 pounds during his title reign, never gave up more than 5-10 pounds and was often actually the bigger fighter.

Haye is going to encounter much more significant physical disadvantages provided he takes tough heavyweight fights.

As I said, I was just pointing out that it has happened before, doesn't mean it can't happen again.

And I don't really think the physical disadvantages will be that significant against Haye, he's 6'3, probably will weigh somewhere in between 225-230, that's a decent sized heavyweight. I mean Alexander Povetkin is 6'2 220s and he's fighting Klitschko in December. Klitschko is 6'6 240, so it's not a huge disadvantage.

If i read between the lines here what i see is alexander povetkin getting the **** beat out of himself for biting off a little more than he could chew.

I really don't think Haye's best weight will be anywhere near 230 either. I would say 220 or under, if he could make cruiser there is no reason to go 30 pounds above what had been a successful fighting weight.

I think Povetkin will lose but Haye and Povetkin have very different styles, I'm not saying Haye would beat Wlad, I won't say that until he shows what he's got at heavyweight but counting him out right now is wrong IMO.

I would say Haye is naturally bigger than Povetkin, but certainly not tougher and also a less skilled fighter.

I wasn't trying to imply Haye would lose because Povetkin would lose being that they are similar sized. I'm not counting him out at all, but I think too many people are assuming that Haye is actually going to somehow be better at heavyweight.

Haye will let his weight get too high for this first heavyweight fight and then will come down to something more reasonable after that.
