As for your "points" umm, I'm pretty sure at lot of "Yanks" saw the Joe vs. Lacy fight at the very least. And since you don't know about Americans, I'll clarify: Not a lot of people like Hopkins. He's almost universally disliked by the average boxing fan, because of his style, his demeanor etc. He likes playing the villain. Your entire premise that because Calzaghe fought "our guy" well we ALL hate him now is just ridiculous.

You want to know why the hate increased ON THIS FORUM? Because Calzaghe looked like **** against a guy who was old as dirt and had been fading badly in his previous fight. A guy who had never been known to have a problem with conditioning but suddenly was completely gassed after the mid rounds.

You'll counter with the idea that Calzaghe did it to him by outworking him. Well if you watch that fight closely without blinders on, Calzaghe did outwork him obviously, but in the Olympic style. Tap, tap, tap tap tap. He never hurt him.

Anyway just letting you know why probably a lot of people hate Calzaghe on here, if that's what you see. Probably has more to do with his performance against a guy who honestly, he should have beaten much easier at that point in his career if he's the ATG that you and other pump him up to be.

I could also go into how pumping him up constantly by certain posters in this and never shutting up about how great he is probably irritates US fans much the same way that abadger gets irritated by "insulated yanks", but I won't. Since that sort of stuff doesn't irritate me, just amuses me. But it's something you should probably note: that is, if you honestly want to try to be objective and without bias.

I highlighted the world "ALL" because I'd love you to show me where I said ALL YANKS were like that. Please. I mean you cried for weeks that I had the audacity to say Jones fought "cops and cab drivers" - clearly a jokey comment, even though he ACTUALLY fought a cop - yet you've repeatedly stated that I make generalisations about ALL yanks. So please.......feel free to show me where Ive done that.

I realise that not many people like Hopkins usually but I think he had a lot more support in that fight than people perceive. SOME.......yes........SOME yanks dont like anything new to upset the applecart. You can see it when comments about the Heavyweight division, the Super Middleweight divison and now the Olympics are brought up. They're all written off as "a joke" by a lot of Americans Ive encountered simply because they arent dominating it.

Hopkins may not be "liked" but he is respected. So when a Brit comes over and beats him, yet isnt convincing in doing do, he turns into the villian. Hopkins did well by playing the "robbery" card cos it allowed some to focus more on what Joe didnt do than what Hopkins actually did - which was borderline pathetic in a boxing contest.

You say Calzaghe should've beat him easier at this stage.......yet what does that say about Jermain Taylor who had an even bigger struggle with him? Or Antonio Tarver who was absolutely dominated by him? Or even Winky Wright who is considered an ATG yet he looked even worse and lost the fight. It doesnt say much for these great Yanks that they were made to look even worse than Slappy Joe against a man who's "old as dirt". But I dont see people making "Winky is a bum" threads, do you?

You've fired off the generalizations and yanks enough times that throwing the word "all" in there is moot point. If you say SOME over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again you mean all.

Your opinion on the JT fights and the Winky fights is just that: an opinion. If you don't think after 40 each year can age you badly, and think that JC is great because of that win, then you are just a fanboy or biased. Take your pick. Again Hopkins was ripe for the taking at that point, as I outlined by his performance.

As for what Hopkins "did" in the fight being pathetic in a boxing match, once again you prove my point. The guy was old and clearly inactive and did not have the wind to be fighting at that level. Would you care to clue me in to all the things that Calzaghe did to Hopkins to get him to not throw punches?

Once again I detailed the actual match itself, Hopkins history of conditioning, and his declining activity level. I have enough experience in the sport to know what I'm seeing and I can tell when a fighter is shot for whatever reason (in this case: Age). The only valid point you have in all this is that he looked great against Tarver (a guy who was for whatever reason EVEN MORE inactive than Hopkins had been ever since the Taylor fights). Once again I've always said Joe is a good to great fighter and opinions vary on that and that's fine. But yet, you call my biased because I'm "coming after you". No. I just see that you are very biased.

And as for your sig- whatever. If you think I got worked up about it the jokes on you. The difference is I'm not going to listen to someone with that sig say they aren't biased. I'm going to laugh at them. If they are just "facts" why would you put an "owned" on there? Grow up man.
