what makes a fighter drop when getting hit?

I've always wanted to know, what makes a fighter drop ? I see fighters get hit on the chin and their legs wobble like jelly, why does this response occur ? I saw on another forum someone write ' Every time he (Amir Khan) wobbles that's due to a concusion, that is, his brain bouncing off his skull. For some reason his brain seems to hit his skull fairly easily, and that can't be good for his health.' If that is the case, then that is simply worrying for the boxers health, your skull being misplaced CANNOT be good for your health... but does a concusion occur even when the fighter gets hit on the chin ? Or is it just for the temple ?

Gettin hit in the head too hard makes you too incoherent to stand up. Sometimes the force of a blow is so strong it literally knocks a fighter down without hurtin him, just as if they've been pushed.

It completely takes away your balance. Getting hit in the right spot in the head will take your equlibrium away, thus the wobbling and inability to stand.

When your head snaps back it sends a shock wave down your spine. Kinda like whiplash in a car crash. That **** makes your legs wobbly.

                You guys are all wrong.

It's called "Concussion". Your brain gets sloshed around inside your cranium, causing varrying degrees of incoherence, usually in direct proportion to the force of the blow, the location of the contact, and whether the fighters head was stationary when it was hit. The symptom severity ranges from slight and very temporary loss of motor control (hands drop, legs go rubbery), to complete loss of conciousness.

                Geez...shockwave down the spine...now I've heard everything.
