I think that this is a good observation. I just don't think that The Roach is a good enough trainer for a speedy, TALL lightweight with a delicate chin. I believe that his routines are heavily influenced by Manny P's style.

If Khan is mainly an offensive fighter, he's bound to leave openings which even allowing for his speed, a top fighter would regard as an invitation to lay him out....to DELINEATE his "linear" potential, in fact.

Isn't Pacman's style heavilly influenced by Roach? And why IF Khan's an offensive fighter? I've never seen a fight where he wasn't offensive and doesn;t leave openings. After 20 professional fights the guy is still a sucker for an overhand right

ricky should have gone with mcgirt or roach. anyone but a steward or mayweather.
There are thousands of boxers out there, some good some not so, and many hundreds of trainers some good and some not so.

Why is it that the only ones we hear about are The ****roach, Mayweather Sn. Buddy McGirt, and Manny Steward?? Occasionally we hear of Roger Mayweather, who, along with Floyd sn. and a third brother, are regarded as having drunk from a super-duper genetic pool exclusive to trainers of genius.

How many of them have actually taken a boxer on the slide, [and I mean REALLY on the slide] and rehabilitated him into being a good, lasting champion????

THAT"S the mark of a TOP trainer, not the fact that they are training top fighters.

Mainly, it is the top fighters, by their special gifts, who win-win, and make the reputations of the trainers. The trainers train, and are more or less just trainers.....
UNTIL along comes a star, who brightens the trainer's reputation once again.

Some trainers feel they need to keep their names in the public eye, so they stick their noses into matters that strictly speaking, are none of their business, and with an eager press willing to publish every pearl of wisdom [very, very few[ which drops from their lips, they stay current, in the public eye, until along comes another star, who reinforces the trainer's reputation as being "legendary".........

              Just my opinion.

To some extent, yes. But also there's the relationship between the fighter and trainer. If it works, it works.
