Why blame Rubio? Maybe Prescott would have fallen apart after 3 rounds...if Amir got to the third round. :P
Honestly, I'm much more interested in Prescott's career than Khan's at this point.

I thought Boxingscene don't publish newspaper stories, eh???.

Remember the other day when someone posted Frank Warren's story the other day about the IBF and Malignaggi.

but id agrue that kkhan still adpot that style quite successfully - why? because hes young. DLH by the time he had trained with mayweather had already learnt all his trade and was the finsihed article at that stage you can tweak a fighters jab or movement but you can't hange them because theyve learnt their way of figting - mayweather will be doing a similar thing with ricky in terms of using his jab, feints, movement and boxing ability etc.

khan unlike DLH has alot yet to learn he is clean slate in some respects. he might have picked up some bad habits but they are not ingrained in him like they are with older fighters and he can still unlearn them. imo he needs to go with mayweather snr and get some better sparring.

          you be right there

the one thing i worry about is the fact that his aggressive Boxing is what has got him to this point im not sure how effective he will be with a more thoughtfull aproach where he takes less chances and throws fewer punches in favour of being more defensive and cautious tactical etc like Calzaghe i think Khan's best defence upto now has been his offence

its clear he cannot fight inside so that is something he needs to work on either that or he needs to learn how to tie his man up

They were ignorant to the signs that Khan had significant problems with his chin and they aren't going to go away with a new trainer. He just can't take a punch.
Yes you are correct, but this does not excuse the trainer for recommending that he fight a man who had 20 KO's in 23 fights. In the whole establishment, The trainer is often the only one with REAL boxing expertise, having-generally-been in the ring himself, and gone through all the trials and errors a boxer goes through.

And a good trainer, actually ANY trainer nowadays, tries to gain a rapport with his fighter to make it seem like a father-son situation, or a teacher-pupil item. Soooooo....The boxer relies completely on the word, the opinion of his trainer, believes him implicitly.

Rubio made a mistake, since he should have known that Khan was susceptible to a whack across the whiskers., or around the forehead. Still.........all else being equal, unless his training system was unsatisfactory, he shouldn't have been fired. This makes it seem as if Khan is sloughing off his own responsibility, which was to keep his chin DOWN and protected, and be safe behind his left jab. He didn't do it, so he bears at least some of the blame. He had been taught better I'm sure.

The trainer doesn't have the final say in who the fighter fights... We can play the blame game til the cows come home. In the end, Khan own shortcomings led to him getting an ugly L on his resume.

I think Roach would be a good fit for him.

                      Rubio is Cuban.
