so your going to explain to me how you think roy is going to beat joe? cuz id love to hear itComment

Joe Calzaghe's chances of stopping Roy Jones are zero, and his chances of winning scarcely less. Calzaghe had pop once upon a time (around the time when Hopkins wasn't old!), but he doesn't anymore, and in Madison Square Gardens, against America's ex-P4P darling, he isn't going to be the beneficiary of a 'Manfredo stoppage' like he has been countless times in the UK. The Garden is going to want Roy to fight, want him to win and want him to turn back the clock, and there is no chance in hell that they're not going to give him the chance.
That's not to say I'm suggesting Roy Jones needs home-cooking to win, he doesn't. Roy is being severely underestimated in this fight. Everyone focusses so much on Roy's recent standard of opposition and how its a step down from his illustrious past that they are failing to see what is the same. Here's what it is: Roy Jones does what he always did, which is box patiently, take few risks, trust his still superb hand speed and accuracy to count over the course of the fight and watch as his opponent gradually breaks down and the points rack up on the scorecards. Sure, he doesn't look as flashy as he used to, and the KOs don't come anymore, but the fundamental effect is exactly the same. Calzaghe is a good boxer but we've seen it over and over again in his career, he eats right hands. Roy boxes to a surprise, but thoroughly deserved UD.Comment

He's a big Roy fan, Abadgers a bit Joe fan. He is proposing that they switch sides to argue the others case.
It's been done before, it's normally a good laugh. But it's worn thin, but who knows. Maybe it will make a comeback.Comment

Right, thanks. I have to admit I was pretty confused, as on another thread he was disagreeing with my opinion that Jones had little or no chance.Comment

Theres one fundemental flaw in your argument... your assuming this is a prime roy jones... a roy jones who could throw off 5-6-7 jabs in a roy, and triple left hooks... that roy is gone, he is no more, he is not coming back...
Ok so Roy is patient... and you think being patient is a good idea with someone whose going to throw 150 punches around? what happens when round 9 rolls around and roy has won 2 rounds? Listen, Im sick of the people around here who think that Roy is going to give Joe problems... did you NOT see the anthony hanshaw fight? the fight was almost dead even until roy knocked him down on the canvas, Hanshaw was outworking him on the ropes the entire fight... and THAT WAS ANTHONY HANSHAW.... are you insinuationg that Joe Calzaghe cannot do what Anthony did only better?
Sure he still has quick hands, but his lateral movement is basically gone and he cannot float around like used to... joe still has his legs 100% and roy is going to be playing catch upp all fight longComment
