How can it logically be said.......

that Jermain Taylor is way overrated, ****, a paper champ, etc...., yet Calzaghes win over Bhop is a good win? Especially when Taylor beat him 3 years earlier, and unanimously? Not saying if Taylor is better or inferior to Joe, trying to flame, or percieving a triangle theory. however, logically how some here can make these type of statements, and defend it needs some serious justification that i am not finding! i have seen this talked about far to often lately, and i wanna know how in the hell it is even conceived? to say that bhop is a good win, taylor is average at best, and kessler is p4p all in the same theory baffles the **** out of me.

I think it's really because Taylor has had some disappointing fights were people expected him to dominate.

However, I thought the Winky fight was good, and thought Winky won by a round but blew it by not going all out in the 12th.
Seems like people remember Taylor's bad performances (there has been more than one) and forget some of his pretty good ones.

Taylor's one of my favourite fighters. His style is so entertaining to watch, with all of its flaws included.

Yeah JReck I love the Wright fight too, but I thought it was a draw and was only time I remember thinking the draw was definitely justified, lol. They both put on a great fight there.

I know what you mean Mel, it's just one of those things I'll never understand either. I wonder if people get these ideas put into their heads by bad press they read or what.

yea,i dunno man. i hug certain fighters(we all do), but it does not keep me from being blindly biased to the truth. i mean we all have some bias for sure, but to sit there and say taylor sucks, but kessler is great, and joe's win over bhop is a good win is a joke! i don't get the need to defend to the point of nonsense! you can't change the obvious by spinning it 500 ways to sunday!

People put too much stock into media hype rather than coming to their own conclusions about any fighter.

Those dudes are ****ing idiots. Taylor has had dissapointing wins, but they were wins none the less. 2 over BHop, a draw with Wink. Nothing paper about that. His preformance in the rematch with Kelly can even be admired as it showed his versatility and capacity to adjust.

Taylor never really looked like the victor in his fights with Hopkins. He looked vanquished. He looked relieved to have survived. Calzaghe overcame a rocky start to finish strong and acted like a champion and a winner. Taylor held on, grabbed a win and looked uncomfortable.

They he was put in with a string of midgets to look good against and looked like ****. A middleweight getting backed up by Corey Spinks is not the mark of a great champion. Then when he finally fought someone his own size he got blasted out despite a decent moment.

As you must be aware Boxrec doesn't tell the whole story.

Pavlik > Taylor > Hopkins (right now). Calzaghe's best win (on paper) is hopkins.

Calzaghe fans trash taylor and Pavlik not realizing that they are indirectly trashing the legacy of their favorite fighter.

I think he looked pretty good against Ouma minus the whole staying on the ropes to much. Winky he looked good at times. He looked decent in the first Hopkins fight by using the jab and body work.

That being said he looked absolutely awful against Hopkins the second time (in which I thought he shouldn't have gotten the decision), Spinks (I DON'T GIVE A **** WHETHER THEY LAND OR NOT JUST LET YOUR ****ING HANDS GO), and at times Winky from missing so much.

                    I agree with you.

I think Taylor has never gotten a fair shake out of this whole deal for starters.

He beat Bernard Hopkins...3 years ago as you mentioned...TWICE...not just a lucky fluke win and running from a rematch...he decisioned him TWICE.

Calzaghe beats that same hopkins and he's supposed to be a current P4P GREAT champion but taylor was nothing but "lucky".

I think Jermain Taylor is the BEST middleweight currently behind the man who beat him twice; kelly pavlik.

Mikkel Kessler in my opinon (of course) is overrated. He, like calzaghe, hasnt been tested much against the best fighters in the world.

there are TONS of great fighters in america that they havent faced...like taylor, pavlik, etc.
