Fighters like Chavez Sr come around once in a lifetime and I think it's foolish to believe his son can/or will be at or better than his level. This is equivalent to the Chicgo Bears drafting Walter Payton's son #1 and expecting him to be like his father or the Bulls drafting Jordan's son #1. Jr probably at BEST will be a fringe contender that's all. Mexico has so many great fighters right now its amazing to me people keep waiting for him to turn into an ATG!Comment

No one threw around the ATG when talking about jr I just wonder if it's time for him to fight some of the top guys at 154. His team should go after Phillips when he still has a belt and is active just to make some money out of jr incase he gets exposed at the top level. But I could be wrong, jr might be a badass waiting to clean up the division but we'll never know if his team doesnt move him soon.Fighters like Chavez Sr come around once in a lifetime and I think it's foolish to believe his son can/or will be at or better than his level. I believe JCC jr. is living off his dad's name a little bit with all of these PPV's against virtual nobodys...
On the other hand who could blame him?
for most of us here, if our dad was one of the sport's best of a previous generation we'd be cashing in on that too.
I think given the fact he has had no amatuer experience he needs some time to make up for that. he's practically learning on the job...
give him another year or two and then i expect him to get in there with more commonly known names.
The big issue with fans and media is they either expect him to be as great as his dad or be a bum living off his name.
Thats not always the case.
Do i believe he will reach the status of his father? no.
do i believe he will be a bum? no.
I expect him to fall somewhere in between.
I can see him coming up and being successful at the world class level.Comment

Good post, but isn't it time that jr gets in there with at least an older strap holder like Phillips just to get some attention for big paydays down the road.I believe JCC jr. is living off his dad's name a little bit with all of these PPV's against virtual nobodys...
