The business side may have made it impossible though, I wouldn't know.
    manny was only getting $750k.

the 2 were suppose to split the $1.5 mil. hbo offered.

juanma wanted $1.5 mil. you want manny to fight for free?

i don't even think negotiations were really needed for this fight. weren't both top rank fighters when they were talking about this fight?

what i heard was erik wanted to fight juanma after his loss to marco. juanma asked for too much money so they just made the pacquiao-morales fight instead.

i believe it. remember when hbo offered $1.5mil. for the pac-jmm rematch and jmm asked for $1.5mil. just for himself instead of taking $750k like manny.

not jmm's fault. he was getting bad advice from ignacio.

ignacio is a great trainer but not the best businessman.
Werd, Tua. Thanks for the info bud!! Go Bears!

This is false. If I remember correctly Arum did Marquez dirty, and put this article out about Marquez asking for 3.5 mil. that sounds so suspect of Marquez. They use the Pac rematch offer as evidence that maybe he did ask for 3.5 to fight Morales. I remember Marquez speaking differently but I can't find the article. Arum was mad that the Indonesian promotor won promotional rights to Marquez-John. Arum hated Nacho because Nacho thought that making only 100,000 more than what was previously given was preposterous.

How do you split 1.5 mil and Pac is the draw? That is false information Left.

I believe Beristain was asking 1.5 mil to fight Morales and pretty much priced JMM out of the negotiating table..

He fought John for 30k next, he seems like a man who would do what he does because of the principle.
Exactly....good post. Something is fishy with when people say Marquez asked for 3.5. I have yet to see anyone post comments from Morales or Marquez. I can't believe this information about Marquez without hearing who, what, where, when ,why and how from Morales and Marquez?

that's what i read a long time ago when the rematch didn't go through.

the comment was by hbo itself not the promoters.

manny wasn't a draw then or at least they didn't think he was.

remember the 1st fight was not ppv it was reg hbo.

the 2nd fight was suppose to be reg hbo too hence why no ppv incentives and such and pretty much the only money on the table was the $1.5mil. hbo offered for the fight.

the reason they were splitting it was both were champions.

manny was the lineal/ring and juan ma had 2 ABC belts.

I didn't mean what you said was false. I do agree that they did grow to hate Nacho, but Marquez did not ask for 3.5 mil. That I don't believe...unless he was shown that Morales would make 6 mil or something lol.

                    look at ai holmes post.

                    it was $1.5mil NOT $3.5mil.

either way $1.5mil. is a lot of money for the lower weight class probably TOO MUCH.

i've heard jmm asked for $1.3 and i've also heard $1.5 i never heard the $3.5 mil. figure.

Marquez was stripped of one of his titles. So he was only bringing 1 title into their supposed rematch. He was the super champion in their first fight. He lost his title to John and was stripped of a title before he fought John.
