Hopkins Just Might Pull It Off...

Everyone knows kelly can hit but Hopkins have probably figured it out that Kelly has to be set to throw them bombs and who is more to make you move your feet, you guessed it Hopkins...Bernard will return to the old days when he was nothing but a counterpuncher against Kelly and we all know that Kelly will come forward and that will play right into Hopkins gameplan...If Kelly trys to do what no one has never done and thats knockout Bernard he may leave himself open for a counter and if Hopkins gets Kelly hurt in their fight , believe me he will not miss like taylor did...Come on people lets have it,no way Hopkins win this one, lets here it or just maybe he does have a shot???

Hopkins is going to lose, he picked Kelly to lose to Miranda... And I'm sure he probably also picked Kelly to lose to taylor... I did too but still, I don't think Hopkins can handle the power of Pavlik.

99% of people picked Miranda to beat Kelly, Pavlik was a pretty untested unknown power puncher at the time.

And so what if hopkins picked miranda and/or taylor to beat pavlik? doesn't mean anything.... (I think he did pick pavlik though, not sure)

Regardless, I think hopkins has a slight chance, it's just a matter of if his body will allow him to execute his game plan, because believe me, hopkins does know HOW to beat pavlik. A younger hopkins would easily handle pavlik w/o question, but at 43 years of age, it's going to be very, VERY difficult to do.

No one has ever defeated Calzaghe doesn't mean a younger Roy Jones wouldn't have mopped the floor with him now does it?

It's simple really - it's about comparing styles. A younger hopkins still had tremendous defense - never got hit flush, never got beat up and was never cut before in his career but had a higher workrate, more speed and power. Pavlik is a pretty simple guy - comes forward, throws the one two, doesn't have great defense, gets hit easily (no head movement or footwork). Can be hurt, doesn't have any speed.... Hopkins was a much better fighter in nearly every single aspect (pavlik having a bit more power is his one advantage). He was a much better boxer.

Hopkins wins easy UD or late TKO.

A younger Hopkins would school Pavlik.

I don't know how easy Pavlik would be to handle for any Hopkins old or young. When he was young and a puncher he would probably have had his hands full. When he was in his prime(after he became very technical) he would have had an easier time. But Pavlik is very big and very strong and hits hard. Even a young Hopkins would be the smaller man in the ring. Pavlik has more skills then he is given credit for. There is a reason he has the highest KO percentage among champions who have proven them selves. I think a young Hopkins would win but I don't think it would be easy Pavlik is not Trinidad. He has more power and is far more multi-dimensional. For instance he uses his jab.

Hopkins has more than just a ‘slight’ chance of pulling it off…I’m rooting for Pavlik but I would never count out the wily vet…he will do his best to slow the fight down to his pace and if Pavlik is unable to adjust or impose his own will, he will be on the losing end
