I'm going Roy, I said Roy Jones would beat Calzaghe in April and I'm going to stick with it. Its tough because I listen to what everybodys saying its easy for to start thinking maybe Roy won't win. Logically he should lose based on all the facts we know. But I just feel people are underestimating Roy Jones Jr. People are just looking at his age and his loses and throwing everything else out the window. I also have confidence in Roy winning because I know Calzaghe isn't young either. Calzaghe is only 4 years younger, Calzaghe is no longer in his physical prime either. No athlete is in their physical prime at 36.

I just think all the stuff from both their pasts goes out the window when the bell rings. In the end its a 36 year old fast fighter who punches alot vs. a 39 year old fast fighter who certainly will throw more than Hopkins did.
In a BS poll of who wins, Roy came out on top, which suprised me.

I agree, at the end of the day (No pun intended), when they get in the ring. It don't matter about Tarver, Johnson, don't matter about Kessler or Hopkins. All that matter is Jones and Calzaghe. On paper, Joe wins it. In reality, Joe should probably wins it. But, should is a pretty funny little word isn't it?

wow, thats surprising. I think most experts are probably going calzaghe though.

As much as i don't want to, lol....i have to admit Calzaghe should win on paper. I mean hes a top 5 p4p fighter in this sport, and Roy isn't even in the top 10. That alone should make Calzaghe the logical pick. lol

Should is a funny word, lol. Kind of like how a man named buster should have lost to mike tyson.(i'm not comparing this fight to jones/calz but you know what i mean)

I imagine they will be, I bet a few will go Jones but most Calzaghe.Going on a BS Poll is always a bit silly though really eh? After all we do have a large amount of people who follow the "Calcrappy fought bumz pwn" line of thinking

Yep, logic says Calzaghe but theres something in my head saying Roy might do it. After all, rankings are just names and numbers. Bredis Prescott was rated 113 or something and KOd the Number 7 rated lightweight (According to Boxrec.com). Paper don't mean anything in the ring.

I'm really lookin' forward to this. As a fan of both guys.

Yeah I know what you mean, Buster should have been crushed by Mike, Ali should have been beaten by Foreman etc.

            Good idea or bad idea?

Roy has always done the worst against the ropes.(Tarver I is a good example, he was better in the middle of the ring) So that would seem to be a bad idea. However now that hes even older, maybe its a good idea. If he fights off the ropes effectively maybe thats his best chance. Let Calzaghe be the aggressor while Roy lays against the ropes and throws counters...

Maybe thats a better idea than trying to box Calzaghe in the middle of the ring...
it wasn't a good idea to fight calzaghe in the first place.

Not I. I'll give Calzaghe credit.

why not? he didn't want to end his career on the tarver III debacle, so he fought on. Now this is the culmination of his attempt to end his career on a good note. Jones has nothing really to lose and everything to gain.

You're the idiot that thinks that this fight proves who was better prime for prime. Please kill yourself.

I know, same here. And its not because I'm a big Roy Jones fan either. If he was fighting Dawson, I wouldn't be picking him. I think age would be a big factor in a fight like that. But Calzaghe is only 3 years younger.

I think some people just jump to the calzaghe prediction because they think...

                    39
                    glen johnson
                    antonio tarver
                    knocked out
                    old
                    old
                    knocked out
                    old

                    lol

others are really going by the obvious facts(and have actually though about the fight from both sides), and i respect them. I respect your opinion because I know you thought about it.

I won't. Because I think Jones is basically done and that this should be an easy fight for Joey.
