Roy Jones Jr.'s Plan For Calzaghe...Good or Bad?

i've been told by a member here(imdazed), that Roy's plan is to fight off the ropes so he doesn't have to use his legs.

    Good idea or bad idea?

Roy has always done the worst against the ropes.(Tarver I is a good example, he was better in the middle of the ring) So that would seem to be a bad idea. However now that hes even older, maybe its a good idea. If he fights off the ropes effectively maybe thats his best chance. Let Calzaghe be the aggressor while Roy lays against the ropes and throws counters...

Maybe thats a better idea than trying to box Calzaghe in the middle of the ring...

to me the only way this is a good idea is if roy is actually going to fight off the ropes. if hes going to just lay there, he might aswell give joe the "w" through the mail and cancel the fight...

hes going to have to land the cleaner harder shots as they are fighting in a phone booth situation. Roy is also going to have to throw enough, so that Calzaghe isn't winning rounds just on activity, even if hes hitting Roy's gloves mainly. I think Roy can do this if hes in great shape and he doesn't use his legs very much...maybe its a better idea than fighitng him in the center of the ring.

watch calzaghe vs salem and see salem lay in the corner and drop calzaghe hard right between his windmilling. laying against the ropes vs tarver and johnson not a good idea cause they have power and can pick their spots. calzaghe does neither and just rushes in every single time throwing with wild abandon. p4p #3 and dropping fast.

You've gone completely off the point.

He was saying Calzaghe has nothing, you don't get to 45-0 having nothing.

Yes someone 43,44,45-0 can lose, thats what makes this fight so appealing

Right on AND if you watch Jones Vs Hanshaw and Jones VS TITO you will see Roy counter very good with solid shots off the ropes and IMO BOTH them guys HAVE more power than Calzaghe. Now WE ALL know Calzaghe's windmill style will be a PERFECT sitituation for Jones to COUNTER and I think fighting off the ropes for a limited amount of time IS key. IMO you WILL see Jones use this in the fight. So overall it is good and bad. As long as its a limited time and he is actually working and not sitting.

Jones will shock the world come November 8th and I sense many people are worried about there hero Joe Calzaghe getting his fist loss..... Remember ALL Joe Calzaghe's HERO IS Roy Jones Jr. and Roy is here to prove something and is more than dedicated to win this fight while Joe is looking for a VERY easy win to retire on....... again Jones will shock the world on November 8th.......

Roy will beat him to the punch on the ropes or the center of the ring. Don't matter! Joe's speed will be shown to be average and his power average too against Jones . Roy Jones is way to accurate and has alot of angles himself. Look for a very competative fight. He did'nt take this fight to lay there and lose a decision. He is coming to win. I bet he wins by shocking TKO off of a counter. Calzaghe is too wide and can be hit coming in. Look for Jones to exploit that weakness. Back in the p4p baby!
