This is good for boxing because it will be side to side with MMA, show a superior product, longer fight, gain more fans. Boxing/boxers just need the exposure that mma has to be popular again.
GoldenBoy/Affliction Boxing/MMA ppv's is a Bad Idea Boxing will Suffer!

im not naive dude, I just think your pulling the race card too much.
and can you really prove that the MMA demographic is 90% white? again I've seen UFC a lot at bars and it has mostly been a majority of white people
*but instead of immediately pulling the race card, why expand your mind some and consider that maybe s pike has something to do with the popularity of UFC ... as it gives them a network cable show, seen on a weekly basis.
network cable= much more accessible then HBO or Showtime or even PPV.
remember Rashad Evans? all the white mma fans keep saying he is a showboat...for doing a little jig after knocking out chuck.{quote}
uh regardless if it's white people saying it, or Mexican's didn't Rashad do some kinda celebratory thing post kayo?
and why is this a "big deal" just cuz the white fans said it?
but the funny thing is chuck liddell is not a showboat? or disrespectful for doing that caveman wild yell after a win? {Quote}
yeah I've seen Chuck's own spinning arms outstretched dance, but he's seen doing it on UFC Unleashed which I guess is why he can get away with it .. plus he's white. gotta appeal to that 90% demographic
Why are asians attracted to pacquiao? or mexicans attracted to margarito? or blacks to floyd jr? and white to pavlik?
I dunno maybe cuz they like watching them fight? out of 4 fighters you named, I'd say I enjoy watching Floyd Jr, and Pavlik .. and im white, doesn't that just blow your mind?
color will always be there, but to go to the MMA message boards which is known to have ridiculous arguments (on occasion)
**regardless of the UFC appealing to more white markets, being to expand overseas or what ever, so what, this goes back to my bolded line about network cable .. UFC's on it weekly, plus with the Ultimate Fighter series.
that's a big feather in there cap and great marketing.
on the counterpart all boxing has is HBO+Showtime.
and to swallow up the last point on this topic to bring it all together, making itself look better then MMA won't necessarily guarantee that it'll be popular again. Although I will not rule out that possibility, you people that say this are failing to consider that a lot more people don't care about boxing then you think.
again take this to your personal life, and look at Pro Sports which you do not give a crap about.
for me, for example. Golf, baseball, Hockey, and soccer I do not care about.
your just gonna have to accept that in the United States boxing takes a back seat to MLB, NFL, and the NBA
and I think boxing is going to need a bit more then more white champs at each weight class.
**you can talk demographics + color all you want, but your forgetting an important demographic .. the 1 that doesn't give a damn about boxing and fight sports all together.
because IMO the average sports fan knows not a whole lot, or generally doesn't care about the fight sports.
additionally IMO i see fight sports as hard to market to the avg consumer.
as I've seen it in "extremes" people will either be really up for a certain fight ... or not care AT ALL
I rarely find a middle line where fans will be "kinda up" for a big fight.
they either watch or don't care enough to.Last edited by MJ406; 09-16-2008, 08:58 AM.Comment
