Careful, you'll give me an excuse to watch the Calzaghe-Kessler fight again *sigh*. I thought Kessler did OK in the face of adversity in that fight, he kept throwing, kept trying right up until the final bell, its just Joe was too skilful for him, he was doing some crazy things in there and its not surprising Kessler found it hard. No way can Pavlik cause the same kind of problems, whatever else you want to say, the predictable stereotype is true. The biggest difficulty he can cause Kessler is to hurt him a few times, and I think Kessler can cope with that.

He's training alright. But not with the fire we are used to see.

Maybe he wants to fights top guys, and these couple of...well not great oppenents have annoyed him a bit. So he isn't up to train.

            Probably spot-on T, but it's not a wise move on Kessler's part.

Fair enough. We have different views on it. I thought Kessler responded pretty awfully to adversity in the Joe fight. There may have been other circumstances contributing to it such as bad preparation, but I was not happy with how he fought regardless. He definately has it over Pavlik skillwise but whether or not he has it over him in terms of toughness and heart is undecided. You cannot have an unbiased opinion on it because you think Pavlik is dross. I think he is of a higher standard than you do.

Nope, it's not. A few champs have been beaten because of that, Tyson-Douglas anyone?

You look at the guys that held their title for ages, it's because they trained for every fight the same. Thought of every oppenent as a danger.

Naah, I do agree with you to an extent. I've never seen Kessler come back from being hurt like I have Pavlik, and I do think Pavlik's best chance would be to try and make a fight out of it rather than a boxing match, and I couldn't say for sure how that would turn out, I just don't rate Pavlik's chances of being able to do that.

As for whether I think Pavlik is dross.....I maybe wouldn't go that far, but I do think his hugely impressive KO victories so far may be a little misleading considering both opponents were notorious gassers, and I do think that with his style he'll struggle against anyone who can (and tries to, Jermain taylor!) outbox him. I do think he's good at what he does though.

Mikkel is a great fighter, talent wise. but he needs more big fights, i think he shined in the one he had (Calzaghe) and he fought right until the end even though he was losing. i hope he gets away with it for this and then gets big fights. I think he will be better motivated so will train harder and show all his doubters what he can do

Pavlik would definately need to make a fight out of it and I certainly think it would be interesting to see how Kessler would react. If its a technical boxing match Kelly would be lucky to get more than 2 rounds, I actually think Mundine has a better chance against Kessler is a tactical boxing match than Pavlik. There are a lot of unknown quan****** in this match up though, can Pavlik get Kessler into a brawl? and How does Mikkel react to brawling with a guy that can punch?
