All it did was allow Castillo, thoroughly hurt by letting his signature win slip through his hands the first time around, exact some meaningless revenge in a fight which he had an unfair, noncompetitive advantage in.

When you are already at a low weight for yourself, as all fighters who fight below their walk-around weight are, those extra 3.5 pounds mean the world.

There is a reason Guzman, should he win, will not be recognized as champion. Because the weight does make a difference.

You recall the second fight with Jose Luis Castillo and Corrales? The first was an instant classic, the second one, Castillo fails to make weight, comes in with an inordinate size advantage, and blows Corrales out in four. Tell me there was no difference there.

      As ESPN.com put it:
"Corrales paid the price in that fight, losing on a fourth round knockout to a fighter who didn't have to make the same sacrifice to make weight as he did."

Coincidentally, in that and in this instance, both Castillo and Guzman weighed 138.5 pounds, 3 and a half pounds over the weight.
      very good post bro...

Yet every Castillo fan on this board justified it at the time and said I was a sore loser for saying Corrales was at a disadvantage. Everything changes so much after a few years.

Like I keep saying about Mayweather. They will absolutely love him 2 years from now. Every single poster on this site.

That's why it's an ordinary sight to see boxers coming into a weigh-in pale, haggard and looking like skeletons. You will also see there's a feast waiting for them on one of the corner tables once they make the agreed weight.

Here comes a boxer, who has no regard for the contract that he had signed, coming in overweight, didn't even bother to show up after the extension he was given, instead, he went for the nearest pizza parlor right beside an ice cream house, and ate himself to death.

What would've happen if Nate just decline to fight Joan? What would've happen to the fans who already booked themselves a flight and bought the tickets?
            Exactly....

Nate had the right to cancel the fight.

Guzman would get no credit from the crooked stationing bodies, so why would we give him props for not fulfulling his contract of making weight?
Some guy busted his ass to make weight and the other didn't.

It is pathetic that a championship level that fighters can't make weight.

Guzman will get about as much credit as Isaac Hlatswayo when he bullied Nate for 12 rounds. He was the bigger man in that one.

He didn't get any credit for that win against lil Nate.

3.5 lbs don't win fights. Or as I should say...wouldn't change the outcome of the winner.

Did you watch Corrales-Castillo I and II? If so, explain to me why you don't think 3.5 pounds makes a difference.
