Lets be serious here, as bad as Floyd's rep for "dodging" fights is, he would box circles around Margarito for 12 rounds.
The 8 million offer was a THREE fight deal.

It wasn't a ONE fight offer like Goosen offered Tony's scary ass.

Arum took a page from Frank Warren's playbook and made an offer he KNEW would be refused..then turned around and said "See there..See...He's ducking us.

But seriously alot of top welters are looking to fight Margarito for example Williams and Clottey. Only two fighters who really avoided him was Oscar and Mayweather.
Did you really expect Floyd to accept a THREE fight deal for 8 million to fightTony while he was buying out his contract with Top Rank?

Floyd would have ****ED himself out of MILLIONS by taking that silly offer.

Arum could have offered Floyd a ONE fight deal..

Arum could have also CANCELLED the Manuel Gomez fight and accepted Floyd's offer when Judah lost to Baldomir.

            BLAME BOB ARUM

Floyd never ducked that slow-ass mexican mummy.

And Margarito already fought them.

So seriously, what is it about him that makes fighters turn the other way?
Ok lets be clear, what you're really asking is why Oscar won't fight Margarito, or maybe why don't Margarito gets to fight smaller fighters like Oscar did (Floyd, Forbes, now Pacquiao...). The answer is simple: Oscar is not the rule, he's the exception, he pretty much calls the shots and fights who he wants (cept for Floyd apparently) and everyone wants a go at him because he pretty much guarantees a millionaire purse. Good enough for you? It's not a bad deal having Clottey and Williams in line to fight you, they are both champions and major players in the ww game. You must understand Oscar is a very rare bird. Sure he's half Mexican but most people who don't know him consider him to be white. He talks like the white folks do, he was born and lives in the US. How many top welterweights are this "white"? Yep, just Oscar so he draws attention on his own. Add a well spoken persona he created and good attitude (unless he loses) and you have a Rocky Marciano (Balboa) which actually exists and fights well. Not just white people but everyone is attracted to this rare bird. Think of him as the "white" Tiger Woods. Similar effects, although i must say Tiger really is a legend.

As a HUGE Margarito fan, I am very disappointed he's not fighting Williams sooner. I really expected him to fight him early next year. Yes Diaz mentioned Williams name on that last report as an opponent they would take if Top Rank were to put him in line to fight Tony next year but we all know that Bob Arum might not want this fight to ever happen.

I'm sure it's not Tony's fault as everyone and even his biggest haters know that Tony isn't afraid of anybody. Unfortunately or fortunately for Tony his moment to rise has come in a bit late and he deserves to be on the spotlight after all the hard road work he's had to endure throughout his career.

So if Tony's next opponent is a big draw like Mayorga or Mosley in order to get another well deserved big paycheck following a rematch with Cotto for another big purse, I'll be happy for Tony and will root for him but as a boxing fan I will be disappointed that a rematch with Williams might never happen or if it indeed happens it will be too late and might not matter as much as it would do right now to finally put a nail on the coffin and finally kill all the doubt and hate that Margarito is indeed the king at 147 right now.

In fairness, we've seen Marg in with Cotto, Williams and Clottey, the three top welters other than himself, and against Cintron too, another good welter, so its a little unfair to say everyone is avoiding him. I suppose the boxers we are talking about are Mayweather and De La Hoya? The harsh truth here is that they are on a different plateau in terms of marketability in comparison with Marg and simply want more marketable fights, after all Marg is nobody's golden boy and does lack mainstream star appeal.

I do think there is an element of boxing judgement in there too though. Margarito is a tremendously dangerous opponent because his chin/ workrate/ power combo mean you can box excellently, even outbox him for much of the fight, and still lose by brutal KO, exactly like Cotto. This is not a risk people like Mayweather and De La Hoya, with big reputations to protect are going to be very keen to take. Getting beaten up by a crude slugger does not look good on the resume and IMO it would take a hell of a lot to get either of these guys to take the risk.

They do want to fight him but they want to fight him on HBO and there are no dates for anyone for the rest of the year.
