What would the motive be for Oscar to take a dive against hopkins though? Hopkins was a big favorite going into the fight, so it's not like it was an upset. He was also a favorite to win by KO, so if it would have been smarter to just go the distance.
Plus, people aren't really even considering that oscar really didn't belong at 160 and never been hit by a big guy before in his career.
another angle
body shots can be deceiving too. here is roy jones vs hill, the body doesn't shot doesn't LOOK all that bad at all, but dude looks like he's giving birth on the canvas. This is also a punch that lands on the side, near the liver, just like the hopkins shot
2) It was a right hand.
That being said, I am undecisive about Oscar throwing it. If he did throw it it was because Oscar knows he has a hell of a chin and he was in for a lot of punishment in the reamining rounds.Comment

Bingo. If he threw it, it wasn't a set up that Hopkins agreed on anything. I have no doubt that the punch knocked him down. Whether it put him out is a question we'll never no, but it was never a setup where Hopkins and De La Hoya agreed upon.Comment

maybe a better question is did oscar throw the fight against mayweather when his corner kept telling him to JAB JAB JAB, and what did he do? he definitely didnt jab.
i dont think he threw either of the fights. since neither rematch came to fruition, i dont see what benefit there would be.Comment

am i the only person that hears the constant chanting of body shot just before Hopkins throws and lands the punch. then the person shouts oh oscar as if to mock him that the punch is comin.
Hopkins is my guy but i could see why people think it is suspectLast edited by Hagler★; 09-11-2008, 08:22 PM.Comment
