What do you think of this guys Opinion? Says Boxing is Dead or Dying.

and speaking of boxing and living up to it's hype. How would it be "good" if DLH kayo'd the smaller Pacquiao? sure he'd get to go out on that "big win"
but I think the media would find it laughable and a bit pathetic on DLH beating up someone so much smaller.
plus if DLH does get the big kayo over Pacquiao, why retire when he can fight Hatton next and cash the **** out beating on another smaller man?Comment

Really? i coulda sworn i heard you on here ranting about everyone not supporting DLH/Pacquiao was "killing boxing" and that everyone available needed to buy + support the fight so that the UFC didn't get $3 Mill PPV buys.

you do realize boxing used to have so many of these mismatches? thats what made boxing so exciting and popular back then they had 165 pounds going against guys waying 190-200 pounds before.
plus oscar deserves to get a big win he has done so much for boxing.Comment

i hate statements like this "so and so deserves a big win". oscar has done alot for boxing, and you know what he is getting from it? money. the only circumstances that any fighter should ever deserve a big win is that when they train and prepare and become better than the other fighter and truly go out and prove it. nothing else matters, its who is better. thats what boxing is about. does pacman deserve to beat de la hoya cause he brings pride to his country? **** no, he deserves to IF he is the better man.
anyways, onto boxing vs mma
boxing is far from dead, this forum is obviously not dead... can someone check the largest ufc ppv buys? id be willing to bet that hoya vs mayweather sold more than any ufc ppv ever.
ultimately i think the only people with a valid opinion on the boxing vs mma topic are people that actually know a decent bit about both sports. this ****** in the video doesnt know **** about boxing apparently. sports are entertainment, so what if an mma fighter would beat a boxer on the street? does that make boxing a crappy sport? im sure a football player would beat the hell out of a golfer. boxing is DEFINITELY a different sport, it has a different set of rules, it has a different scoring system, different fight lengths, the fights are just different entirely. its up to you to decide which sport is more exciting to you. obviously i am a boxing fan i am going to say boxing, but if you enjoy seeing someone get arm barred more or kicked more, well maybe you will like mma better. both sports are great in their own respect, every athlete in almost every sport has to put in hard work to get to where they are, mma is no different, and boxing is no different. fact is boxing is NOT dead. this has been a good year if you ask me. there is no "superior sport". just because two sports are combat sports doesnt mean that one sport is superior to the other. why the **** dont people argue wrestling vs mma or wrestling vs boxing? wrestling is a combat sport as well. or basketball vs football! they both have balls right? both contact sports! both balls must go in the other players goal! same **** right?
anyone who wants to says one sport is superior another is wrong IMO. its all about what sport you like, and that you realize its your OPINION.Comment

Another biased **** head, some boxing fans can be the same way too, but this guy is just a ****. In a street fight he claims that the MMA guy will beat a boxer every time because he more than likely believes the boxer won't know how to do anything but punch. Extremely biased.Comment

are you a boxing fan? seems you wish it were dead by the way you talking my friend dont be negative!

shut up you over dramatic fool.
how many other "mismatches" historically happened, since you didn't name any? the only one off the top of my head would be Ray Robinson vs Maxim and that was 160 vs 175 but for the Light Heavyweight title.
so where are you getting "165 pounds going against guys waying 190-200 pounds"
Roy Jones vs Ruiz would be another example, but in all fairness RJJ was pretty big at 175, and it's not like he went up against Tyson, Wlad or another killer puncher .. he fought (arguably) the worst of the belt holders
but still just because these freak show fights with a 35 pound weight difference (as you say) happened in the past, doesn't mean they should still be going on. Especially a Lightweight vs Welter .. even if the welter is a bit out of prime, don't you realize the key selling point is esentially "David vs Goliath"
and stop with this Oscar "deserves a big win" he's a 36 year old 10 time World Champion, he doesn't "deserve" ****, he's rich beyond his wildest dreams, and Promotes one of the most well known and successful on the up and up Promotions in boxing.
plus every one of his fights is hyped up the *******.
**like have you ever seen a countdown show before to what was essentially a tune up fight? (Countdown to Forbes-DLH) come on man it's ridiculous.Last edited by MJ406; 09-11-2008, 09:45 PM.Comment

I wish it were dead? Just because I don't want DLH winning and ****ing the fans over with another big money worthless PPV fight in Hatton-DLH .. that means I don't like boxing? Don't you realize that all these high selling PPV's do is just encourage more of them.

great whoopty ****ing doooo
I'll throw you a personal internet party to celebrate Oscar's big win.
I'll make the cake and peewee can bring the cups and paper plates.
and why should we enjoy DLH kayoing Pacquiao? you've talked about this so many times already like it's already glued into your brain as a pre determined outcome .. why look forward to and enjoy it?
I'd prefer for Manny to pull the upset and shock the **** outta me and everyone else.
not to mention embarrass and probably force DLH into retirement.Last edited by MJ406; 09-11-2008, 10:53 PM.Comment
