I notice alot of members lately......

are fans of 1 or few fighters , and never bother with other threads unless it is about or mentions their fighter. sad really, they are missing out on so much.

Hopefully through coming here they become aware of the wider world of boxing and start looking at others. That's exactly what happened to me, now I like two fighters, Calzaghe AND Kessler!

      Haha. You funny ****.

In all seriousness though I think this is a bit of a common theme in boxing fans. It is such an emotional sport that ppl often get involved in the sport because of one particular fighter and just become attached.

I am trying to learn, and discover new fighters outside my National fighters. It is a main reason i decided to join a forum, and learn more. I have only been watching boxing a few years, but have the eagerness to learn more about this great sport.

Exactly, we're all here to learn about the sport and discover new talent.

                  Andre Dirrell, obviously...

I was only kidding, I like lots of fighters, although i must admit that there aren't too many Americans I like at the moment. Probably my favourite yank boxer is Tarver because I think he's underrated and very funny, and though I've only seen him fight once I was very impressed with Nate Campbell against Juan Diaz. I have a lot of time also for Paul Williams who intrigues me largely because I have no clue how good he is or isn't, he is something of an enigma. I don't rate Pavlik or Taylor very highly, have a lot of respect for Hopkins and am in awe of the talent of Mayweather and Jones. Dawson I am undecided on.

My real favourite boxers are Calzaghe, Kessler, Pacman, Margarito, Nonito Donaire and Mijares.

For sure, I think its somewhat unlikely that (unless you box) you are going to initially start liking it for its own sake. With me it was gradual, I always enjoyed watching big fights, Benn, Eubank, Bruno, Hamed etc, then Calzaghe, became aware of a young hatton on his way up and so on. It helped a lot that Calzaghe turned out to be so good, thats what got me coming here and created the obsessive boxing fan I am today.
