No you're right mate, Mayweather did all he could at 140. By beating a shot Gatti, he definitely proved he was the best at 140......undoubtedly.

I bring up the Mitchell fight because you act like he had some mega fight lined up at 47. Why couldnt he fight a similar level tune up at 140 and fight Hatton/Cotto down the line and CLEAN UP THE DIVISION.

Mayweather is the bigger man and more comfortable at the weight. The difference isnt as big as say Hatton vs Margarito but there still clearly is one. And Floyd knew it.

Ive never heard anything like that from Hatton's lawyer.

No, the thread is not about Witter but all your Hatton-related posts are. Get over it. I hear Witter's fighting for the Euro title, get a ticket quick.........there going like hotcakes.............well actually more like cold turds.

Yeah right please tell us who Mayweather should stay and fight at 140 instead of moving up to 147 where he was able to fight Mitchell,Judah and Baldomir before taking on Oscar at 154, Please tell us...He could have stayed at 140 and take on the same level of opposition like corley and harris but you people would be the same fans who would jump on his back and critise him.

I repeat tell us who he should have stayed in the 140 division to face when the "Man" at 140 told the world he isnt ready for a Mayweather fight or when the other high-profile fight at 140 was a green Cotto who wasnt ready for Mayweather.

please enlighten us on who Mayweather should stay at 140 to fight.

The facts are Gareth williams hatton's own lawyer and trainer billy graham said they wanted the fight at 147 not for the money but because Mayweather isnt any bigger than Hatton...Now i would take their word over a nuthugger like you.

And like i said before this thread isnt about Witter and i dont intend to make it one, You bring up his name because you know you're losing the arguement and thats getting old.

Oh ****, he was able to secure that megafight with Mitchell at 47. Do you read what you're typing? Corley and Harris are bother better and more prestigious opponents than Mitchell. Floyd actually tried to get the fight with Maussa but priced himself out.

You're making it out like Floyd couldn't take a tune-up cos you wanna coddle him from fan backlash. Yet you condone him fighting a shot Sharmba Mitchell who'd been destroyed by "the beaten Tsyzu".

The facts are that Billy Graham wanted Hatton to remain at 140 cos thats his optimum weight class. Graham didnt want the Collazo fight but accepted that 147 is where the big fights and the money was. Watch his post-fight interview on Gatti vs Baldomir.

To suggest that he and Hatton's team demanded the fight at 147 is not only an outright lie, its not even a very good lie.

Hatton's stated that while he'd love the fight at 140, he was in no position to tell the P4P King what division to fight him at.

This thread isnt about Hatton either but look how far you will go to discredit him. Bitter Witter twat.

Your post lack any common sense mate, You kept bringing in up mitchell like thats that is suppose to be relevant, Mayweather moved up to fight at 147 when all the good challenges at 140 wouldnt step up.

He also fought the ex-undisputed champ at 147 and the linear champ at 147 in judah and baldomir so???

Go to skysports archive and the messages are there where Hatton's own lawyer and trainer said all those things, You need to stop crying and let it go.

He wanted to protect his "Man" status at 140 and thats what he got, You suggest Mayweather didnt want the fight at 140 because he couldnt make 140 anymore
..Even though he weighed 159 at a WWE event without any training,Keep making yourself happy by lieing to yourself mate, I would stick with what Team Hatton said over a crybaby nuthugging fanatic like you.

Mitchell is relevent as you're making it out like Mayweather couldnt fight a Mitchel- levelled opponent at 140 as a tune up for Hatton who made it clear he wanted Floyd after he fought in America. Or fight Cotto. Again, your condoning of jumping weight classes without dominating them is alarming as a so called fan.

Yeah Judah and Baldomir were bigger fights than Hatton and Cotto or even Tszyu who hadnt officially retired. Dont be ridiculous. Mayweather did the same trick at 47, pick on the weakest champ and move on.

I love how you say "read the archives" as if it proves your bull****. You're twisting the fact that Graham and Team Hatton accepted the fight at 147 to the outright lie that they demanded it at 147.

Mayweather could make 140 but he didnt want to cos it'd be an unnessary struggle for him. You suggesting that Mayweather was open to the fight at 140 is also a lie and utterly ridiculous.

Listen mate dont question me as a fan, What Mayweather does with his career is up to him, you telling me i condone Mayweather for not cleaning up at 140 but am daring you to name the fighter you want him to clear up against and you just kept harping on about Mitchell.

If he fought a mitchell type opponent at 140 you would use that like you have just done with mitchell as an arguement point, Their was NO point in him wasting his time at 140 when the big two(Cotto & Hatton) werent ready.

He saw an opportunity to chase after Oscar and he did by going through Mitchell,Judah and baldomir.

Listen again am not claiming Team Hatton demand the fight at 147 THEY wanted the fight at 147 and negiotate for the fight to take place at 147..period, In doing so they were able to protect Hatton's man status at 140.

I question fans who condone fighters not fighting and cleaning up their divisions. Mayweather wouldnt be "wasting his time". Whats the rush? Unbelievable frustrating attitude you have that you think its wasting time to stay in a division and clean it out. I suppose Hagler, Hopkins and Calzaghe wasted their time dominating for so long.

Your point would make sense if Floyd had some mega fights lined up. Instead he fought Mitchell. A worthless tune-up fight against a shot fighter at 147. If he was going to do that, why not do it at 140 while Hatton and Cotto got in tune-ups too?

Team Hatton didnt want the fight at 147, they accepted it at 147 because they werent in a position to demand it at 140........PERIOD. Hatton's Man status? He couldve got it back easily cos Floyd wouldnt have stuck around at 140 anyway. Ridiculous argument.

So please tell us O-great boxing fan who hatton fought then? Since all boxers are suppose to be held on a high standard like Mayweather.

You're the same boxing fan would make excuses for Hatton when he ducked fighters and call those fighters names, dont you think you sound like a hypocrite?

Like i said name the fighter Mayweather was suppose to stay at 140 and clearout without getting critise, You kept telling me he should stay at 140 and wait for Hatton and cotto
, I didnt know his career has to depend on him waiting around at 140 for hatton and cotto (Good to know how good your arguement is).

I hope you see the number of thread where people like Hopkins,Calzaghe gets hated on/critise for staying at one weight and fight mediocre fighter for 20 odd defences...You can never win in boxing period and fans like you arent real fans.

Fact of the matter is Hatton didnt want to lose his man status at 140 and negiotate for the fight to take place at 147 which Mayweather didnt mind, He could have fought Hatton at 140 if he wanted but he doesnt seem bothered about wanting to be the man at 140 as long as he kicks his ass which he did.

                  • I have no problems with the circumstances surrounding the Hatton fight, at the end of the day Mayweather was at 147 by then and I see no reason for him to have to come down in weight to face a challenger. Its credit to Hatton for not only going up to face him, but actually moving up and competing in that weight class first.

On Tszyu, in fairness Mayweather probably should have faced him before Hatton did at 140, since it would have been a megafight between the two best fighters around that weight. I think at one time Mayweather always planned to face Tszyu, but when he moved to LW from 130 he found that it wasn't as easy as he had anticipated and that put the brakes on it a little bit. It would have been great if it had happened and would also have been arguably Mayweather's career best victory to this day had he won, but we all know that circumstances often get in the way of what the fans want.
