do some research pal. at local fights, promoters are dragging guys out of gyms and off the streets to come in and take losses to prospects. there are plenty of guys with 0-25 records. let me clue you in because i guess you dont understand. they arent in the ring to win.Comment

Apparently you have never heard of Charlie Zelenoff.Plain and simple, when it comes down to it, it's 'human vs human.' Theres always a 25% chance BOXER A might win, 25% chance BOXER B will win, 25% it will be a draw, and a 25% chance it till be a no-contest. Thers no such thing as a 'bum' in boxing. Some of the posters post this word so freely as if the actual fighters are doomed from the start, when it comes down to it it only takes skill, determination, and heart. Just look at when Prescott knocked Khan out. If Khan would of won Prescott would of be called a 'bum' and people would of failed to notice what he was capable of. Unless you, yourself have in a prizefight before don't call any other man a 'bum.' A job is a job. Some just do it better than others. No hate thread just some I had to get off my mind.Comment

I was reading a Thomas Hausser article in one of his books about a 'journeyman' with a losing record being brought in to fight an undefeated prospect. Not sure but I think this mans record was something like 2-4-2, he trains everyday for 1 hour four days a week. Boxing wasn't he's deepest love but he was sure to make the best out of it. Fast forward to fight night. Sure enough this 4 round fight starts off like predicted the prospect is beating on this opponent brought in to pad his record. Second round this journeyman starts picking up pace and he wins that round. Next 2 rounds are close. He doesn't upset this prospect but he gets a 'draw.' He might not of won but Im damn sure he went happy as hell home knowing he did his best and his determination blemished this undefeated man record. That to me was really something.Comment

I knew someone who died after a fight. At the funeral, his mother said "he died doing what he loved".I was reading a Thomas Hausser article in one of his books about a 'journeyman' with a losing record being brought in to fight an undefeated prospect. It goes deeper than people know. It's not all about big contracts and great flashy records and a fan base and being ko'ed or ko'ing someone on tv (although that is pretty sweet).
I can't stand when they call people bums.
Who the **** are they?Comment

That's why I virtually never call pro fighters bums. What people on BS call "bums" I just call them "some guy"; it's less deragatory. The only pro boxer I can call a bum is Zelenoff since he was supposed to shock Hartley with his 700 pound hook and he didn't even budge.I knew someone who died after a fight. Zelenoff is clearly mentally ill, not necessarily a bum, just a disturbed person who never even sparred rounds with a live person. That's why I virtually never call pro fighters bums. Disturbing for sure.Comment

It takes a physical from a doctor and a licensing fee to become a pro fighter. So just remember that.Plain and simple, when it comes down to it, it's 'human vs human.'
