Ive heard it all now.
Speaking of Roy Jones he called the Manny Pac-DLh fight a joke.
The RJJ-Trinidad fight was a joke. Trinidad was a former welterweight champ fighting a former Heavyweight champ. Not only that Trinidad was 2 1/2 years retired, coming off a loss and a weight class and a half bigger than he ever fought. Roy Jones couldnt even finish him off. So now the stroy is Roy carried him? So you big Roy Jones fans are happy paying 50$ just to watch him carry people? Isnt this boxing? Thats a joke.
Pacman is young and the p4p number 1. Coming up two weight classes to fight DLH. I bet in this fight nobody is getting "carried". Its going to be a real fight.
Which was the joke?Comment

I could've sworn I read it repeated many times on here, that Roy stopped hunting for KO's after the G-man ended up the way he did.Comment

This is the thing, watch Roy's fights over the years, he's always paced himself. Going into the Ruiz fight for instance, he averaged like 34 punches per round. He's never been an output fighters, but one thing he's also never done is waste his punches. He's always landed around 30-40% of his punches. Too say that he cant hang over a 12 round fight to me is a lil preposterous. The guy has fought 12 round 13 times. He's also gone past 10 and either won by KO or TKO another 5 times. So too me, Roy winning this fight by late KO isnt totally out of the question. The guy has always possessed the ability to fight for a full 12. Its just his style of not throwing thatg much that makes ppl think differently.Comment

That wasn't the question in the title, my bad for not reading the whole question. I do believe Jones carried Tito, no doubt about it. As far as being abe to fight the whole twelve rounds, I wonder about that because as he's gotten older, he's taking more breaks and against a guy like Calzaghe, who builds up punch stats with his pitty-pat style, you can find yourself down on the cards early.
What Jones needs to do is get into his rhythm and put something powerful on Calzaghe early to keep his activity in check. If he can establish his feints and get Calzaghe waiting on him instead of vice-versa, he can win the fight.Comment

To add to this, Ive really only notcied one time in which Roy was unable to pull the trigger. That was Tarver Jones 3. He was soo worried about Tarver landing a huge punch that he didn't throw. I think i round 7-8 Jones threw like 7 punches. He just didnt throw anything. This is the thing, watch Roy's fights over the years, he's always paced himself. Now Jones V Johnson was totally different. Jones was just pressure way too much and by a thudding puncher in Johnson. When Johnson get ppl on the ropes, he punishes them. The KO was Def. a solid thudding shot the the side almost the back of Jones ear, but Roy was completely layed out when he hit the canvas as hard as he did. Jones tried to only throw to keep Glencoffe from continuing to press forward. Johnson being able to take a mean shot as he always has been, Jones had no chance in that fight, let along coming back from a vicious KO at the hands of a fighter only 4 months prior.Comment

Nice, I'm just a little concerned with seeing a sort of repeat of the B-Hop fight. Frustrating simply because it seemed Hop had the tools and smarts to beat Calzaghe but a result of his endurance or atleast it seemed he was unable to take advantage. I'd hate to have to watch Jones on his back heels waiting all fight to pull the trigger. To add to this, Ive really only notcied one time in which Roy was unable to pull the trigger. See I think that Jones will be able to pull the trigger. Lets look at it like this, Calzaghe is an ouput fighter. Who throws and throws and throws and lots of times, like we seen in the BHop fight, he throws wild. Jones is a counter puncher by nature. He waits and sits and waits until he see's an opening. Now against Tarver, he didn't see many, and when you look at what he threw, it was when HE was being the agressor, not the counter puncher. Look at round 11-12 and Tarver Jones 1, and round 5 of the Tarver Jones 3 fight. Tarver is a big puncher, he possess 1 punch KO power, point blank. Now, does Calzaghe..............NO. And this is where he will be hurt by his own output IMO. Jones will not be afraid to let his hands go, he will throw when Calzaghe opens up, and he will find a big home for hie patented straight right hand. BHop is a very good counter puncher, but not in the sense of having the ability to land one sharp hard accurate punch with speed and catch a man off balance. His right hand the landed against Calz in his fight wasn't a fast one at all, but sharp and accurate. Throw some speed in there and Calz could be iced. I think, and again it's my opinion, that Jones will have Calzaghe in a freeze at some point in the fight. Calz will be the one who won't be able to get off as Jones will land some clean accurate counter shots that Calz will not like. And if there is one way to beat Calz and to beat him bad it's let him make mistakes and leave himself open for such punches. Calz's defense is his OFFENSE. If he at any point get frozen in there because of Jones ability to land punches when Calz throws, HE"S IN SOME DEEP WATER!!Nice, I'm just a little concerned with seeing a sort of repeat of the B-Hop fight.
