I heard he's continuing his former-legend-spree and going after Ali:

Jones lost his cat like reflexes and his knockout losses have really effected him more then most think. Calzaghe is awkward to fight to begin with but on top that he's hasn't sustained as damage as Jones. This should be an easy win for Calzaghe.

LOL, what the hell are you talking about. I don't think you understood what I meant at all.

My point was Joe shouldn't have been saying things like 'Hopkins is going to be leaving on a stretcher' when he knew it was going to be a hard fight and it was.

Yeah, 'cause no other fighter makes outrageous predictions like that, either, so neither should Calzaghe.

Remember Mayweather saying he would anhialate Oscar?

I think ALL fighters should keep their mouths shut, act like sportsmen and gentlemen, and let their performance in the ring do their talking for them. Unfortunately, the "great-unwashed", or if you prefer, the "huddled masses", eats that **** up, or so I'm told, and the more bull**** and name-calling before a fight, the better the PPV buys...again...so I'm told.

Roy will win the battle of the words and the fists. Should be a damn good fight though.

Seen as this is a Calzaghe thread, I was talking exclusively about Calzaghe. But the same applies for every fighter, yes.

Shows how good JC actually is. What you saw happen to Amir the other day has never happened to JC, even when JC just turned pro and on the way up. No one has taken advantage of JC and exposed him. So JC hasnt had to learn from his mistakes. JC probably has made many mistakes in fights but noone has been able to capitalise. Big punchers got JC down, had the opportunity to finish him when he was hurt but couldnt.

                JC needs respect.

I say he will be catching Calzaghe all fight long. Put it this way, if Roy truly isn't shot as some say he is, and will want to put on a performance, he is winning the fight I say. If it will be too friendly, and Roy holds back too much, he may get outpointed, yes. Don't look at his age too much, my dad, in his mid forties, a smoker, was running around better than many 20 somethings. Roy, a well conditioned pro fighter, with supposedly no bad habits, should have more. I say if he truly wants to KO Calzaghe, and is not shot, he could.

I can agree that some do indeed talk too much, and don't always back it up in the ring. Hopkins can be blamed for that as well. But, at least it was their first fight, so he might have meant it, but simply couldn't pull it off. But I think we could agree that trash talking can help sell fights.
