I don't think JC has a shot in hell against JT. They both have good handspeed(watch the Toney-Barkley fight), James Toney has great power in both hands, granite chin, very hard to hit cleanly, and he had good stamina. The only advantages I give Calz are workrate and handspeed. Calz will bag maybe a couple of the middle and later rounds but, it'll be an all toney affair.

But Toney did like to take parts of rounds off, and sometimes he took pretty much full rounds off. If he did that against Calzaghe he would lose rounds through workrate which would put him at a disadvantage. When he is fighting at his best, Calzaghe could take a few rounds here and there, and while he takes time off Calzaghe takes some rounds. And the Toney ends up needing a KO,

Toney would beat B-Hop and to say that he isn't at all fast is completely inaccurate. Calz piled on wins against weak opposition by overwhelming them with flurries and having the ref stop the fight -- Toney would easily counter Calz flailing. B-Hop vs. Toney depends more on which version of B-hop fights Toney. Its real unfortunate that Toney had that weight drain problem before he fought RJJ but I really don't think he would've beaten him anyway.

Very difficult one to call

Out of all the posts I have commented on this is the most difficult to give a firm opinion.

Toney had good defensive skills and I could see his style giving Joe great difficulty. The factor in Joe's favour would be stamina if this fight went the distance. I just went on to Boxrec.com and noticed that Toney's weight fluctuated a great deal between fights. Indeed, in the fight before Roy Jones Junior he was 181 lbs! As we saw when Jones Jr struggled against Tarver after fighting at heavyweight, rapid weight loss does a boxer no favours in the ring.

Ok, if they fought at their primes say the Toney who fought Barkley and the Calzaghe who beat Lacey then I would say a Calzaghe late stoppage although not without Toney possibly puttig Calzaghe down in an early round like Hopkins did.
