Saw that--wanted to get more in depth opinion on it though so I made another one.

I don't think workrate is the only advantage Joe would have had over James. He has/had faster hands than Toney and I think his movement was also superior. Make note I am by no means saying Toney could not have won, just that Joe is definately in Toney's league and personally I think he would have had the edge in this one.
I know it's prime on prime. But I don't think Joe is that far out of his prime, if at all, tbh. I mean, how long ago was his best win, against Kessler? Two wins ago? And during this so-called prime of Joe that people refer to, he had some ropey fights, so I don't necessarily buy the idea that Joe is miles away from prime form.

Anyway, in terms of advantages, James had underrated speed, he was pretty fast. JC, obviously, is fast but I've always thought it's at the expense of power. James could be fast but maintain a good pop with it. And JT is one of the best counter-punchers you're likely to see, so I don't see how Joe's handspeed would trouble Toney.

I have NO idea what they're gonna think about this match-up. Ooooh, I'm so excited to see which way they're gonna plump! James or Joe???

        Come on guys, share away!
Abadger doesn't talk about Calzaghe anymore. His new favorite fighter is The Matrix.

I like the fact that he can be self-depricating, as shown by this adoption of Dirrell. And tbh, I quite like Abadger. I just hate how he sucks Joe's ass so relentlessly, picking him over prime Hagler and RJJ, IIRC.

toney wins. much better skillset overall. he would negate joes speed, and slip alot of his punches.

Toney is very cagey I could see him possibly KO'ing Calzaghe late on or Calzaghe getting a decision.

If you watch James fight Iran Barkley you get to see Toney doing a good job throwing powerful uppercuts while quickly moving backwards and setting up his counters.

I'm pretty sure badger was taking the piss with the Joe beating Hagler statement.
