How does one become a judge or a ref?

I suppose a boxer starts out by going to the gym but how does one become a Kenny Bayliss or a Chuck Giampa?

lol, I was thinking about this the other day. I thought I'd make a dope ref, fight would never stop!

I'd be a hella biased judge though, I admit. I'm too much of a fan.

Doesn't surprise me. You can't do jack **** in this country if you are unfortunate enough to get one of those..

Yeah, **** can get really hard if you don't have the drive to overcome obstacles.

I looked into becoming a ref not too long ago. You have to look up your state athletic commission I believe and find the application to apply for a license. I believe the license allows you to ref amateur fights with guidence or classes I'm sure. Then when you get enough experience I believe you can apply for a pro license (which I think is a little on the expensive side).

The guy who was helping me out turned out to be an ******* and his gym was in one of the worst areas in my city, so I said to hell with it. I wouldn't be able to get an amateur ref experience until the cleveland golden gloves probably anyway.

Excuse my ignorance, but is there some kind of course or test required?
