Why I think Roy Jones will deafeat Joe Calzaghe

I believe that When Tarver knocked Jones out.. he suffered a concussion

Concussions are caused when the head is Violently snapped or knocked and the brain slams against the inside of the skull causing bruising..

The effects are varied..But a few things remain consistent..

RJJ showed some classic symptoms of suffering a concussion
His Physical skills seemed lessened.. His motor skills (i.e. speaking) seemed to suffer as did his sense of reasoning..

Something else about concussions.. If they are not fully healed and you suffer more head trauma.. it will take less force to have a greater effect than the injury which orginally caused the concussion in the 1st place..

SO... yes The weight drain might have affected RJJ, but really Tarver just did his homework and scored a beautiful shot that changed RJJ forever..

Of course age has played a role.. BUT.. RJJ is/was so far ahead of the pack that even a lost step.. cannot explain his sudden "SHOTNESS"
    A concussion can..

SO if you consider a Concussion as the problem.. His KO loss to Johnson makes more sense .. as does his additude and subsequent performances afterwards..

Given the time to fully heal.. we have seen somewhat a return of the RJJ of old..

His speed and silky skills are still there.. he is NOT shot.. his chin is not glassy in the truest respect.. But rather, should he suffer another concussive blow.. He will get Knocked out again.. and possibly suffer permanent damage..

That being said.. Calzahghe lacks the brute power to cause such and injury..

So we will be left with SKILL vs SKILL.. And I believe that RJJ has the higher skill set in almost every department except chin..

Which is why even at the age of 39... I suspect RJJ will hand Calzaghe his 1st loss..

On a side note.. should this happen.. and it thrusts RJJ back into the top spotlight. he would be wise to stay away from anyone with heavy hands.. i.e. Moving up in weight .. and pick his fights carefully.. which he has always done anyway..

    predcition.. RJJ by UD

The athletic commissions would have picked up a concussion and not let him fight.

I'm no expert but I would have thought after suffering a KO like that they would have checked for a concussion,

I may be wrong on that though...

Holyfield didn't have anything wrong with himself physically, it's just age, it's wrong for the commissions to let him fight but it's different circumstances, they would have put Jones through some thorough tests for concussions after such a brutal knockout loss.

I can think of few Hockey players who had their careers ruined because they were misdiagnosed... If the NHL can miss it.. why can't a boxing commsion??

            anyways it's just theory..

I dont think its all that inconcievable. Calzaghes getting old, Roys old. Neither of em look stellar anymore. Roy obviously has been Ko'd twice and smacked around a bit in the last five years. Calzaghe is coming off two hard fights. Roy looked, at times, very good in his last fight. At times he didnt look so great, covered up a lot, let little Tito pound away at him. Played to the crowd and ****...Calzaghe has a better workrate, he'll go forward and motorboat. I think that'll be the difference. Cal fights at a higher pace. Maybe Roy can roll back the years, stay on his toes and move around a lot, tie up Joe when he gets close like he used to from his glory years. But nowadays he aint that hot at tying up, prefers to COVER up. No idea why. He's safer tying, he's always been good at tangling opponents up with his forearms. But instead he covers up now. Well, if he covers up Joe will just unleash punches. They might not be explosive but they'll be rapid and the judges notice. I think Cal should win on points due to this. But maybe Roy can get him. Maybe, if he fights with the right tactics

Well this is his best chance because Calzaghe cant punch a lick anymore, if anything.
