Doug Fischer, in reply to a letter sent to him by one of his readers, said that the diminutive 108-lbs. IVAN CALDERON sparred with Oscar De La Hoya at the start of the latter's preparations for the Floyd Mayweather fight last year.
The sparring session was first revealed a few weeks ago by Pacquiao's coach, Freddie Roach, who said, Calderon did well against the Golden Boy. Roach handled De La Hoya's training for the Mayweather fight.
Fischer, who covered Calderon's latest appearance against Cazares for TV, said, the sparring session was confirmed by Calderon himself.
Asked for his assessment of De La Hoya based on the sparring session, Calderon reportedly said, "He has problems with quick and mobile southpaws."
