Why does TheRing have Hopkins as #4 p4p but Calderon not in the top 10?

Raf does a lot more in all his fights than throw one punch and hold, and he doesn't need to use headbutts and low blows to compensate for a lack of real boxing skills!

Agreed. Regardless of what you think of Bernard on a personal level failure to recognise his outstanding boxing ability can only be attributed to ignorance or highly motivated hatred. I won't deny that I think BHop is a pretty horrible, arrogant racist ****, but I still respect him as one hell of a great fighter.

Point is that you can't argue for JMM to be ranked in the top 10 and not Bhop. Tunney is arguing against himself.

          Of course you can!

Marquez actually boxes. With Hopkins it's just one punch then hold, then he headbutts on the inside.

Hopkins lost THREE of his past FIVE fights.

Marquez has lost one close decision in his past five, and I scored that fight for JMM 114-113.

If you're not going to count his loss to Pac because you scored it for him then I guess we can throw out Bhop's losses as many had him winning.

Also, you have to consider the last 5 opponents of each fighter. Bhop's last 5 is much greater than that of JMM's.

There is no reason with Tunney when it comes to Bernard Hopkins.
He refuses to believe that this man was once a very highly skilled boxer who is now in his mid 40's and still competitive, it's amazing whether you agree with his current ring tactics or not.

I think almost anyone can agree that Hopkins is rated too highly by The Ring magazine though.

Hopkins in his prime against a very good fighter his own size.

The Machine has spoken. End of thread.

                      We're in 2008, not 1997.

Hopkins shouldn't be #4 p4p, and Calderon should be somewhere in the top ten.

But surely if Pavlik KOs the old ex-convict, they'll take a second look at his rating.
