Theres noway that Haye would KO Toney but his pure speed and determination would make him win by points. Toney wouldn't be able to keep up with the speed and amount of shots that where coming his way. Granted though if he caught Haye with a bomb it would drop Haye

The only reason that Haye wants to fight Rahman is because of Rahman's high ranking which will bring a fight with Wlad closer, Anyway i would pick Haye to beat Toney.

Haye didnt think a cruiserweight could take his punches. And is Toney even a cruiserweight? Hes more like a blown up light heavy. And hes 40+. My logic tells me Toney should get a pasting, but somehow i think he would do better than the best cruisers, if that makes sense.

There is a very big difference in quality and talent when comparing Hayes previous opponents like Enzo Mac,Mormeck, and Bonin to James Toney. If Toney comes into the fight in great shape,he could make Haye look absolutely foolish, even at his advanced boxing age.

Hate to say it but at this point Haye would probably beat Toney, although he wouldn't KO him.

You guys are crazy. James Toney would whoop Haye. Peter has more power than Haye, and Toney took all of those shots. But Toney would be able to tee off on Haye, and we know his chin is suspect. Haye is not as physically big as the rest of the HW, and he is no defensive wizard. Toney by late 11 round KO.

Dude get your facts straight my man Toney has not lost 6 of his last 7 fights he won his last 2. He TKOD Hasim Rahman 7/16/08 but the decision was over turned why I don't know. He won a split decision over Danny Batchelder on 5/24/07 the two losses to Sam peter one of them was very close I might add. The draw with Hasim Rahman on 3/18/06 and a UD over Dominick Guinn on 1/10/05. So in his last 6 fights he is 4-2 since they over turned the last fight against Rahman to a ND he is 3-2 with 1 ND......hardily 1-6 like you said my friend........Lefty

Toney is still one of the best boxers in the division and Haye knows it. Haye would have an easier fight against Rahman and a name under his belt if he wins. Against Toney it's pretty much a 50/50 fight. It would be a huge step up in his competitive level, Toney would be the most skillful boxer Haye has ever fought by a long way. Too much of a gamble for Haye right now, especially as a re-entry into the division. If they do fight though, and Haye somehow wins, all the doubts go out the window in one fight. Beating a well-trained James Toney would be as good as winning any of the titles in my opinion.

I think that "durablity" is the right description, not tight defence. Klitschko knocked him all over the ring for 10 full rounds, then almost passed out after the 11th. So his corner stopped the fight.

Purrity is/was one of the most durable fighters of the period. Apart from 2 fights stopped on cuts, both in his first 5th fights, the only one to ever TKO/KO him was Vitaly Klitschko, over 30 fights later, even though he fouight all the top guys including some heavyweight champions.
