this is big for Mares. Pena is an old dog who knows all the tricks and is still a threat. I'm actually favoring him in this match up even though I will be rooting for Mares. I think Mares has all the skills and characteristics to be a star. My only concern is that he is very vulnerable when he opens up and any fighter with a nice punch and a good head on his shoulders should be able to take advantage of that.

mmm i think penalosa has a style advantage here, i think mares simply hasnt taken the nacho style well(though he looked loads better than before in his last fight) because he lacks form in his punches and those punches dont seem to be able to keep people off him....penalosa has a good guard that allows him to walk mares down....i think unless theres an improvement on mares, he will have to just throw and move for all 12 and outwork penalosa like ponce did........which is dangerous
