After all the time people have had to think about the outcome of a Pavlik vs Calzaghe fight, I am shocked anyone could still be rooting for Kelly.

The fight will Calzaghe vs Kessler all over again. Kelly might do well for the first round or two, but by then Joe will have him timed to perfection and he will be walking blindly forward on to shots all night long.

Warren never wanted Joe to face (the tougher fight in) Roy.....as he stated, he would of opted for the (easier) plodding Pavlik. If you read the entire interview he also said that he didn't want to give Hopkins purse parity either! Translation.....Warren didn't want the fight, didn't care about legacy, he cared about making the most money he could from Joe....guess what Frank, Joe's tired of dancing on your strings. He claims Calzaghe stood to make more money with Pavlik? How? Even with purse parity, Roy's a much bigger name, HBO is backing this fight with a 24/7 series (they wouldn't have if it was Pavlik), and Joe doesn't have to split with Frank.

I wish the interviewer would've raked him through the coals and asked him why he sat on money (reportedly $4 million) from the Hopkins fight.

Even as a fan of Kelly,I still don't see him winning.I think it is OK to root for your favorite fighter, even if he was the underdog going in.

Warren had largely shaped out a deal with Arum for Joe to face Pavlik, all on his own accord. So it's quite possible he genuinely preferred the Pavlik option but I'm not so sure. To have largely ironed out a potential deal with Arum, and knowing the Roy Jones purse split, I'm surprised he'd say Pavlik would bring in more. Knowing all the figures (if he really does) surely it'd be clear RJJ brings Joe more? Or does he mean money in the long run, and fighting Roy after.

Not overly clear but I think Warrens definitely partially just trying to add to the legitimacy of the Calzaghe criticism for not facing Pavlik this year. Sour g****s.

Warren is full of ****, he is just trying to muddy the waters as previous posters have noted and put himself in a better light rather than the blood sucking leach he is.

Joe Calzaghe has reached a point in his career where he has one maybe two fights left and wants to make as much money as possible before his retirement what the hell is wrong with that? From all the interviews and documentaries I have seen on Joe he isn’t a big time Charlie, so its not like it’s just a case of he thinks he can do it better. I mean Warren has made good money out of Joe for the last 11 years as a champion he should have wished him well, I remember when Hatton decided to leave as well Warren tried to make out he had rights for his next fight, now I know these guys get hit in the head but they will know when there contracts and so on are up!

As for Warren reckoning he wanted him to fight Pavlik (blah blah blah blah BLAH!) The interviewer should have asked him why he didn’t push for a fight against Jones in his prime rather than protect his fighter and continue to rake the cash in making WBO mandatory defences?

Roy Jones needs Joe more than the other way around; I am looking forward to the fight even if Roy is shot. Jones will not be able to cope with fighting 3 minutes every round (like Hopkins couldn’t).

I think if he fought Pavlik he would beat him on a UD, he is another hyped up American fighter (with good reason to an extent). Don’t get me wrong I like Pavlik he is my sort of fighter, I just don’t feel he and Jack Loew need to be making all this noise. Pavlik needs to fight Wright and Abrahams (forget Strum) and once has cleared up his own division move up. He has an upright style like Kessler, his head movement is poor and everything comes off that single and double jab. If Taylor had any sort of desire left/stamina he would have beaten him. People who seem to think he is going to blast Joe out are living in a dream world, Lacey was meant to destroy Joe and he gave him a master class, Kessler (who I rate highly) ran him close but Joe just stepped up a gear. Ok Joe is getting older but surely if it was fought at light heavy Joe will have a distinct advantage.
