Why Doesn't Williams Fight Santos?

Isn't Williams set to fight his next fight at 154? Why not Santos?

I think he's facing his mandatory. Save for a major embarassment, he should pull through. And then what?

it makes so much sense that you know it will never happen. both those guys know margarito is there daddy and there going to keep begging him there allowance (a payday).

This may be the best available fight for both guys for the next year or so, & I'd pay to see it.

Margarito's playcard looks to be full for the next year or so
- it looks like he'll be fighting Mosley after Clottey (assuming he wins), & will probably have to deal with the mandatory that was already scheduled for Cotto.


For Williams, the only names likely are Collazo or a rubber match with Quintana.

For Santos, Verno Phillips may be the best other option - unify some belts, get his name to the top of Junior-Middle ranks, & is a makeable fight.
Dzinziruk, who beat Santos for his previous title, looks tied up for the next year, so Williams would be ideal to bring his name up.


Personally think Santos-Williams would be a very good fight, & could be promoted very well from the Margarito angle.
Winner would be all but guaranteed a shot at Margarito if he gets past Mosley & Clottey, & would move into the big money category of fights.
